Hello again everyone, I’m back with an updated version of Devil In Disguise plus Don’t Be Cruel as well.
Just to restate, I’m doing these songs to try to improve over time and collaborate with this great community.
* Any author is free to use any part of my songs to complete their own version, should they find anything useful. It’s all for the greater good.
* Constructive feedback, like ws54’s really awesome advice and charting examples on Devil In Disguise, is always very welcome
* If anyone would be interested in collaborating by recharting an instrument, that’s great. I have a particularly difficult time with drums it seems.
* Unless I am told by a moderator, I do not plan on adding these songs to the database as I consider them WIP.
* I am only sporadically authoring and on the C3 forum as my schedule allows, so my apologies in advance.
Thanks! – TheSwngKng

*Definitely not perfect but a much better version of my first effort following ws54’s advice.

Hey there – sorry, it took me considerably longer than I thought to get back to my song. Regardless, everything worked out fine now per all recommendations, and thanks again to Farottone, Sweatr, MrPrezident and Gigikoops ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” />
…and reimporting the lyrics worked for #1. Didn’t even have to re-quantize.
Thanks! Time to get back to improving….
Number 2 is pretty self explanatory: if you read the RBN rules, something you have to if you want to author, you will know OD phrases must coincide. PART DRUMS and PART KEYS OD phrases are not aligned at M63 (where drums play, not sure why you think they don’t)
Thank you Farottone – I was frustrated and not taking my time in between doing other things, and completely missed the obvious. I should have stepped away and come back when I could analyze the situation properly. Thanks for taking the time to help me. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” />
– did you quantize the notes? Select the note tubes attached to the words “have” and “said”, then Q to quantize. Or click on the lyrics text event attached to those 2 words and Shift + A to align the text events with the note tubes
– did you try and re-import the lyrics? (if you even imported them, which you should).
I did quantize the notes and lyrics to the grid, but since I was not taking my time like I said above I probably missed a something and was just frustrated. I will check into this and use your recommendations probably Mon as I’m going to be away until then. Thanks Sweatr!
Thanks SO much guys!! MrPrezident’s recommendation with the dragging the midi track area further to the left worked. Thank goodness. This midi apparently still hates me though because now I’m getting two other Magma errors I don’t understand that I’ve never seen before:
1) (PART VOCALS): Misaligned lyric at [21:1:362] (expected at [21:1:360]) – there are no notes or lyric events at this measure position and even after deleting those around it just to see, I still get this error. No idea what’s happening.
2) (MIDI FILE): Unison phrases don’t quite coincide at [63:1:000] in tracks PART REAL_KEYS and PART DRUMS – the drums don’t play at measure 63:1 so there would be no unison phrase. I don’t have a Real_Keys part (that may be the problem) and besides, this measure is a part of the song that occurs elsewhere without this error.
Yeesh! Hopefully I’ll figure these out in time. Just venting right now. But if anyone is feeling up to providing assistance I’ll take it ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” />

February 27, 2017 at 2:19 am in reply to: TheSwngKng’s WIP Playtest/Help Thread [starting with Elvis] #481968ws54 – Thanks so much for the analysis, the comments and the work you did. I’ll be taking a good look at it and – like you said – continuing to practice, play and read the docs. Much appreciated!

No problem.

Great to see a author starting. Love that profile pic. And the Beach Boys reference in your location.
Thanks Wings! Someday perhaps we can finish off “Lahaina Aloha”.
I too would like to thank everyone who has contributed to this customs community and especially the excellent authors who remain dedicated to keeping this going week after week. I had never played Rock Band in any form until maybe 6mos ago and randomly stumbled into the customs world about two months ago…I just couldn’t believe it. I’ve already started trying to learn to how to author my own full band customs (not easy if not you’re not familiar haha). My girlfriend and I and all of my friends are in awe of this body of work which has created the ultimate musical party game. Every time we rock out now, a good part of the fun we have is your doing. Thank you so very much!
