Exactly, the fact that their free means there’s nothing dodgy going on – like I said about Destiny, I hated it at first, but I eventually got used to it and I’ve accepted that this is the way games work now.

I’m fact I like it better. Theres a bias toward older games because they have that nostalgia factor, but I bet you when you played them at the time they could be repetitive and boring – whereas now with games like destiny (it’s one of the few I play lol) it’s always changing (the only prob I have is with the accounting breakage involving dlc pricing where $40 = £40, BIG no no).

I just play it a bit, then leave it for a while, then I come back and boom it’s like a brand new game.

Well, I played Destiny on and off, and my opinions on it obviously bounced around massively during its lifetime, but finally settled on it being a good game. Because of it’s dynamic and fluid nature, everything in the game can change to suit the wants of the masses, and that is a powerful ability.

Rock band 4 has the same ability, and I think these developers truly do have the userbase’s best interests at heart, even if they do fuck up colossally sometimes.

This means that as long as the actual core game isn’t fucked, and people cry loud enough, that it’ll become what everyone wants it to be.

I instantly thought of the ending to ‘The Happiest Days of Our Lives’, in which the last 18 seconds do indeed sound like a bridge that leads into ‘Another Brick in the Wall, Part 2’. At 104 bpm, that’s close to your estimate of 90. Rest of the song is certainly darker and far less melodic.

    If that’s not it, I don’t know.

Haha, that’s absolutely it! Thank you so much!

Also thanks to everyone who replied, pink Floyd really aren’t a band a like much, but I’m always willing to give any music a chance, and I actually had great fun listening to all of their stuff, and even added some other songs I didn’t expect to thanks to your suggestions.

It’s a good feeling to have a list of (almost literally) everyone song I could possibly want.

Like I said, I don’t have a totally gapless music knowledge, but I will probably publish my list at some point and it has a lot of those songs which make you go “ahhh that one” haha, so hopefully I can maybe help some other people scratch that itch.

Thanks dude, I’m thinking it might be from a different band (maybe the rolling Stones? I can’t think of any other similar bands she liked tbh), I just know that she liked pink Floyd, and I thought I remembered it being pink Floyd, but the more I listen of their stuff the more I think it might not quite be their style (they have quite diverse songs too).

Plus, ones memory can be really shit at it’s job lol

in reply to: Looking For A Song (I Think Is) By Pink Floyd #474593

Ahh No, but I can’t stop smiling at how closely it actually fits the description haha, that was very good, thanks for posting man

It’s much more “light”, like happy sounding than that. I have just been on a SERIOUS Pink Floyd binge, and I’m just wondering why I put myself through it haha XD

I’m not a fan of pink Floyd overall but I found a couple songs I like, and I’ve noted them down.

I would add a list of all the pink Floyd songs it’s definitely NOT, but y’know I don’t expect people to take too much notice, it’s just for a bit of fun and you never know, there might’ve been the off chance someone would immediately know what it is haha, (hey I’m an optimist)

Mind you, something like this might make an interesting game on the forums – maybe I could do a sort of tough song quiz, and whoever can guess the weekly song or whatever can request a custom – it might be a cool way for some non-charters to get involved and get some of the customs they really want.

Thanks again for replying! I’m still smiling at how well that song matched my description haha, but it’s much happier sounding – the oohs are really high and gentle, and the drumming is really noticeably off-beat in comparison.

in reply to: XLR to USB cable issue #474584

Here is another link with a cable very similar to the one you purchased. It looks like it has some very poor reviews due to it’s unreliability and some users found their cables were broken upon arrival. Maybe this is the case for your one too.

in reply to: XLR to USB cable issue #474582

    Hi,

After a quick search about your problem I found a couple of interesting links.

Here is one on the HMX forums about using a mic with Rock Band. After looking at the cable people prefered in that thread compared to the one you have chosen, it looks like your one might not quite fit the bill (not good enough quality), or it might possibly be faulty.

Since XLR mics are a little more complicated than the standard USB mics (or any 3.5mm plug mics), it appears that the price you pay matters more, as it’s not a simple cable type conversion.

While I can understand your not wanting to spend a small fortune on a cable conversion, I would recommend returning the one you have for a refund, and buying from somewhere a little more reputable – Amazon is good if you choose the right sellers, and obviously pay attention to reviews.

While you could try fixing it yourself it’s quite possible the cable works fine and is in fact just not fit for this purpose, so I would recommend returning it and trying a different model cable from a different seller.

On a side note, while I’m sure XLR mics have many benefits over standard USB mics, especially the Rock Band one, I find keeping things simple is better, so I just use a modified SingStar mic, which I have found to be of better build quality than the Rock Band one.

If you had a spare Rockband USB mic you didn’t want to use and a mic with a 3.5mm plug, then you can very easily fashion (soldering required) an adapter to connect to Xbox 360. Plus, the total wire length is that of the Rock Band USB mic and the 3.5mm plug mic together; mine reaches more than four meters.

Haha thanks, Yeh that last bit wasn’t meant to sound so self pitied, just trying to chill about it lol

I actually think I’ll look into it myself, because it seems to be a really simple program.

It’s obviously highly likely I’m underestimating the whole thing, but nevertheless I’ll give it a go.

I have a good grasp of programming’s absolute basics and functioning, and it’d be a good way to expand my skills in that area, since I’ve always wanted to do something programming related.

in reply to: New Idea For Keys In Keyless Songs #474517

Farotone that is an excellent reason for why this is a bad idea that I didn’t think of, thank you.

I’ll add to the post for clarification, since I also disagree with adding them to the database, I thought that the ideal way to add something like this would be in like a small program or something, so if other people caught on and liked the idea (I’m sure I’m not the only person annoyed by having to drop out as keys when in a full band and a song has no keys part) then they could add these duplicate parts to batches of their songs or something.

And obviously, since I have extremely limited programming knowledge I was suggesting/asking that you guys might consider writing one. I think maybe it was a bit direct, but I didn’t mean it rudely, sorry if I offended either of you two

Also admittedly I didn’t have a thorough search, but I couldn’t find anything on the same issue already posted – I’ll check some more.

I think this’ll be the last time I try and inject a little light humour into my forum posts, because it’s not going down well – my fault.

    You ok?

I’m not trying to antagonize anyone, I’m sorry if it comes off like that, what’s with the hostility?

in reply to: New Idea For Keys In Keyless Songs #474496

Because I don’t like the idea of putting the wrong instrument on a track, or faking instruments, and so I’m not spending any of my time on that project.

    Rhythm Guitar?

in reply to: New Idea For Keys In Keyless Songs #474493

That’s a no from me. I’m fairly sure I know farottone’s view on this but I’ll let him tell you.

Yes! A whole 30 minutes before being shot down. I love it

Is there a reason why at all?

in reply to: Keys Player Present Instead of Bass #474455

Yeh, I’m really happy with the way things are and how the game has evolved with C3. And that’s the second time I’ve said that today lol
