Could the HIMYM one be Cecilia by Simon & Garfunkel? I believe this is from the Intervention episode in which they have an intervention for Marshall for his overuse of charts and graphs, one of which they show is this:

Or the HIMYM one could be Robin Sparkles as she was a Canadian Teen Pop Star. Perhaps Lets Go To The Mall or Sandcastles In The Sand?
