Has anyone had any issues with extra music or feedback type of sounds while in the set list menu? I am not sure when it started, but is it possible that customs can get mixed in with the set list menu music? Where is the set list sound track stored?

as always, thanks for any assistance.

With the C3 CON setlist manager I found I have a few duplicate songs and for the extra song, I lost track of the bin # to song association. Is there any easy way to get the song to bin association or do I need to extract .bin and then .app until I find it?

    Thanks!

I think I see a part of my mistake, have been using strictly using the new DB and converting the CON to wii, and I now see that the legacy DB has some (if not most) of the songs I am looking for in wii format (Thanks again to Stack!!).

Stairway to Heaven I packed with another song, so I will try to pack it by itself to play. But, Metallica, Master of Puppets “can’t restore” and with Metallica, One, I get the delay/pausing.

Am I out of luck with those?

    Thanks TrojanNemo,

So are they not playable on the wii then? Seems I am having trouble with several with the encryption.

1st: Make sure u are on the latest version of rockbiink (latest version has important fixes).

2nd: Audacity, For the 6 drum tracks, all of them are mono, make the 2 bass pedal tracks, 2 drums tracks and 2 cymbal tracks into stereo, you should now have 3 stereo tracks, merged then to obtain 1 stereo track, split it to mono, apply amplify effect to reduce db (if drums tracks sound too loud in comparison to the rest of the instruments tracks), export each tracks individually, set each track in rockbiink, update dta, create batch and run it, place the bik audio in the correct _song path (remember to rename the bik to the name of the custom it has). It should work without any issues.

Oh, also check the dta with notepad, if it shows 6 drums tracks change it to 2.

Thanks Blaze, I got a few working now.

I have noticed that some moggs will not open in audacity, the error is something about compression, is there a way around it?

    example is Stairway to Heaven.

I did something wrong, game froze when the song was loading. I am able to see it in the song list menu, it starts to load, but when I get to the spinning loading design, screen/game freezes and requires power cycle.

in reply to: [How-To] Playing Customs on Wii #471274

Probably not the right place to ask, but I am using the correct version of RockBiink now.

I have a mogg with 6 mono track drums. I selected track 1 and 2 and made them stereo, which Audacity combines into one track but both wave length are visible, I did the same for 3 and 4 and 5 and 6. I then combined the new stereo tracks with “Mix and Render”. This gave me one stereo track, but if I am reading your instructions correctly, I should have two tracks for drums, a “L” and a “R”.

Should I be selecting track 1,3 and 5 and “Mix and Render” then do the same for 2,4 and 6?

Thanks and sorry for off topic question.

    RockBiink Question:

I found a song that is pausing every once in a while, it is a converted CON, I downloaded RAD tools and Quicktime player, but when I open the RockBiink app, “Update DTA” is greyed out and I cannot select. Is there some sort of association I have to make with the RAD tools?

in reply to: [How-To] Playing Customs on Wii #470961

I have not run into the freeze problem yet, but I have only converted ~50 songs and to be honest I have not even attempted to play them all, I just spot check after I load a dozen, so I am probably not going to be much help.

Good suggestion to try to reconvert something you have already tested, that will make sure you don’t have corruption in the tools/files.

I do have some of my own unrelated questions that I am not able to find answers for.

First in regard to Harmony Project, it looks like all upgrade info will go into sZAE, starting at 001 and 003, is it correct to say that logically I would move to 005 and 007 once 001/003 are full? Also, can I use the “.mogg” from the RB1 disc for the RB1 upgrades?

Second, since I want to understand what I am doing a little better, I have been attempting to reverse engineer and I am able to extract the “tmd” and “.app” from the “.bin”, but is anyone aware of a tool which will extract from the “.app”?

    Hey snoopy,

I am brand new here and I know you probably have much more experience than me, but if you post more specifics, maybe I can help. Can you tell us which songs you downloaded and how you packed them (i.e. did you put multiple songs into a single bin, numbering, size of file, etc)?

I am not able to check the site often, but would like to attempt to give back a little if I can.

Thank you Stack, I got one working. You have made my day!

in reply to: [How-To] Playing Customs on Wii #470815

I thought he was talking about those 8 songs we didn’t got on wii, that free pack that PS3 and X360 got.

I thought there were only 4, I will look for the others.

Hmm, maybe I missed that. In that case, yes. You’d have to do that. Since there would be no RBHP DTA for those songs, the on-disc DTAs have to be used. But do add on the updated vocal_parts section. The rest should be like a standard custom. No Magma needed.

Sorry if I am thick but I hate the whole cache reset when I mess something up, so I want to make sure I understand.

I should be able to copy the song info from the orginal .dta into a new .dta for the custom setup, then change the path in the new .dta to the sZFE path.

I create the folders/sub folders that correspond to the the standard customs and copy the relevant files from the extracted into the created custom folders?

Looks like I will be missing a preview .mogg in the _meta which is in the standard custom folder (no big deal, I think there is a way to create one if I want it, but I don’t believe it is necessary).

But in standard custom setup, there is a ,mogg in a sub directory of the _songs folder, will the .bik work there?

Also, I am not clear on what you mean by add the updated vocal_parts section?

in reply to: [How-To] Playing Customs on Wii #470780

Ok so I deleted the .bin files that I added and i cleared deleted my .vff, when I load the game I am still getting the error that there is “add on content” and the SD card is disabled.

edit: I believe the SD card issue is resolved, I did not delete the .vff properly, it is currently loading the content.

edit2: I found the .dtb and converted it to a .dta, can I simply copy paste the songs section out into a new file? I am still not sure how to get the correct files/info into Magma.

    Alternity,

I am sorry I am not following. When I extract the RB2 song I have one folder, inside I have the following:

    • gen folder
      • .milo_wii
      • .png_wii
      • .bmp_wii
      • .bin
    • .bik
    • .mid
    • .pan

I need a good .dta before I can pack, so I used the DiscToDLC project process to get the .dta. and the files into the standard custom _meta and _song folders.

Is there a simple way without going with the Harmony add on?

    Thanks!

in reply to: [How-To] Playing Customs on Wii #470765

    Hi

Let me start by saying thanks to Stack, with this guide I have played a hundred or so songs I would never have been able to.

I have been following this as well as Stack’s Harmony project threads, and I am trying to get some of the RB2 songs into the custom sZFE folder.

My question is, I have extracted the Rock Band 2 songs folder and used the “DiscToDLC” tool with the Harmony project. I have the “_meta” and “_song” folders built

    • songs & songs_upgrades folders in the “_meta”
    • and a .bik in the songs folder.

I have attempted to rename the folders as well as both the songs.dta and the upgrades.dta with method used in this process, but I am getting the “SD card disabled” when I attempt to load in game.

Is it possible to put these in the sZFE or do I need to follow the Harmony process?

Will the standard path in this process work with both .dta?

Will the .bik work or is there more work needed?

Unless I try to learn the authoring process, I don’t believe there is any other current method to get these songs.

Again, thanks this has rekindled my enthusiasm for the game!
