You’re not using the merger right. You’re supposed drop in only the meta folder custom you’re going to merge to. Then, in the next screen, you’re supposed to pick the custom’s meta folder that you will add. The song folder is copied in the process.

In this example, 052 and 053 should be working. Common key looks to have not been modified since you downloaded it, so it can’t be correct. Hint: it’s not 0. That could be why the game is erasing them.

    1) So are you saying drop in 052_00000034_nlfr_meta and then select 054_00000036_far_18andlifev2_meta when the dialog comes up? Or the other way around? I’ve tried both ways, now with just the meta folders like you said, and neither way works.

    2) Originally, I replaced the blank common-key file with one that inside has a series of characters starting with ëä and ends with a division symbol. That process didn’t work. I’ve just tried replacing that with the text that zootoxin posted above after converting hex to string. It came out to be the exact same set of characters starting with the e umlaut and ending with the division symbol. So I’m thinking I’ve used the right common key all along unless this is not the key.

    3) I still don’t quite understand how to know which IOS is in use. Like how do I “Pick” IOS 249 and have it remain that way? Instead of coming back into Wii Mod and seeing it say IOS 236 is the current IOS.

(I guess I haven’t mentioned, but I am using the original game disc and running it after doing the whole process and even selecting IOS 249 in Wii Mod)

I’m now getting an “add-on content is corrupted…” when the game starts up and when I check my sZFE folder of my card using my PC, my bin files are gone. How do I know which IOS is running when I launch the game? Whenever I go into Wii Mod, it says the current IOS is 236 even after I select 249, then exit out and come back into Wii Mod again to see.

I’m still getting the -1022 error trying to install sZGE.wad using WAD Manager. At least my remote works now when I select IOS 249 in WAD Manager.

I’ve also checked and my ng_id.txt and common-key are correct.

I’m not sure if it matters, but it seems like every custom I’ve tried ends up being about 5MBs while that Fluttering Romance sample song is around 20MB. All I do is 1) Drag the 054 and 055 folders into C3ConTools’ Wii Converter’s second tab. 2) Then when the dialog opens up, I select the 052…meta folder. Once that’s done, 3) I run RB3WiiPackTool, then 4) Run PackDLC.bat, then 5) Copy the resulting .bin files into the card’s sZFE folder.

Okay, so yes. You’re definitely missing IOS249. Go back to this guide and install the WADs there. Everything you need should be there, including IOS 249. Because you’ll need 249 and then a patched IOS 56. Basically you just need it all. Do that, then try the customs and post a syscheck. And your controllers shouldn’t be disconnecting either.

So after the 30 wads part in that guide, I went back in and looked at the IOSes and IOS 56 has no patches and is v5662 I think. It said v59xx something is not on NUS. Do I need to go up in version for ios56 and/or add bug/exploits etc.?

I can live with WAD Manager disconnecting my motion plus remote when I select ios249 prior to installing sZGE.wad, if YAWMM got the job done. Since other people had this issue according to this thread:

    https://gbatemp.net/threads/controllers-disconnect-trying-to-install-wad-manager.200000/

Also, according the your O.P., sZGE is optional right? In theory, I should be able to just create the sZFE folder in my file explorer like I originally did, do the renaming of various stuff, and not even deal with sZGE, right? Anyway…

I went back, installed ios236, then followed the directions for installing d2x cIOS (http://gwht.wikidot.com/d2x). Then went and tried the WADManager is it still makes my remote disconnect the moment I select ios249. Went and used Yet Another Wad Manager again to have it select ios249 and install sZGE.wad. Still got

    Opening “sZGE.wad”, please wait… [+] Installing WAD, please wait…

    >> Install Content #-1… Error! (ret = -1022)

    0 files(s) successfully installed and 1 failed…

When I ran Syscheck, the csv output says this:

It was 2011 using wadmanager 1.7 and ios36 (249 made my remote disconnect and not reconnect).

Just now I tried YAWMM and it allowed me to control the install using my remote and 249. When that was done, I got a 1022 error. Launched the game and got an “Add-On content cannot be restored to the wii system memory” error instead. After that, I removed what’s in the sZGE folder, redid the packing process and used a different song with the sample song. Same Add-On content cannot be restored error.

in reply to: [How-To] Playing Customs on Wii #462414

It was a 2011 error after the wad install. I’m pretty certain the ng_id.txt is right because I did the dragging of a random bin file from a dlc I purchased off the store into the wii converter window and saved the file that had 8 chars in it.

The common-key, I’m semi sure. I pulled it from a couple of different sites and both times it looked the same.

in reply to: [How-To] Playing Customs on Wii #462393

My turn to be the noob lurker-turned-attempter…

I followed the steps in the OP to try to play customs on my SD card. I’m getting the:

“The License for Add-on content has been deleted from the Wii system memory. To use the add-on content, re-download…”

message, trying a few different songs one at a time. (Grease Lightning, Maniac, 18 and Life)

Initially, I tried creating an sZFE folder on the card, smart merging one song with the given “Fluttering Romance” song, packing that, and copying the bin files to that folder in the card. Names and text file seemed to have been edited to the correct pattern (054, etc.).

Then after that yielded the above error, I downloaded the sZGE rar StackOverFlowOx linked a bunch of pages back. Used wad manager 1.7 to install that wad. (I have no idea if it did anything or not, how can I tell?) I still had to create the sZGE folder in the /private/wii/data folder. Made necessary changes to dta files to match sZGE. Tried again for a couple of songs. Same error.

I assume my ng_id.txt is correct, since I recall getting a much different error early on using an incorrect id. I’m about ready to tear my hair out with this error.
