October 30, 2015 at 9:04 pm in reply to: Harmonix employees have been leaving 5* reviews on Amazon #458489
I can’t say I’m outraged, honestly, but I am a bit disappointed that they’d do that. If they’re really desperate enough to want to balance out negative reviews with fake positive ones (on Amazon no less), it kinda gives me a feeling that the game isn’t really doing great. I’ve heard no one on my campus talking about this at all, as opposed to when RB3 launched, when everyone was buzzing with anticipation. Heck, I work with a small team, most of which are gamers, two being fans of Rock Band, and they’ve not brought it up at all except for a passing mention of it on its release day.
I really want to see Rock Band 4 become huge, but it doesn’t seem likely (yet). I really hope that during the holidays it will get much bigger, because I’m really saddened by the lack of excitement for the game right now. I’ve grown to like it, despite its many faults, and I’d like to see the game have a chance to grow.
For those wondering, yes we did update the firmware for both instruments, but it seemed to make no real difference for the drums, and it only slightly helped for the guitar (strums were slightly more responsive, but it still failed to register randomly and still dropped out randomly). As for the vocal lag issue that some have mentioned,I was a bit buzzed by the time I picked up the mic, but I still noticed it to a degree. I thought it was just some sort of vocal delay effect at the time lol
August 7, 2015 at 8:55 pm in reply to: Have C3/customs kept your Rock Band experience alive? Tell us here! #452260Absolutely. I think if it weren’t for customs, I’d probably have stopped playing the game a long time ago. The DLC kept it alive too, but I could only afford so much DLC at a time, and typically my game budget for DLC is not very much, and if I have a DLC budget at all, its going to go to either Rock Band or a full digital game. With Rock Band 4 coming closer to release every day, I look back at the day when I discovered C3 and I smile a bit, as cheesy as that is, its true. C3 has added over a hundred more hours worth of play to my Rock Band 3 from the official weekly releases alone. Despite me not having been active lately because of work (haven’t been playing any games lately period), I still play Rock Band when I can, and most times I’m playing customs.

So happy to see some official Judas Priest released here! Of course, I’ll be playing all of these tracks, but I am definitely most excited about the Priest track!
I can’t believe there isn’t more demand for Billy Idol who has one of the guitar gods of the 80s in his band.
Even if they weren’t full band, some guitar only versions of a lot of the songs from Rebel Yell would be fantastic. Flesh for Fantasy, Eyes Without a Face, Blue Highway, (Do Not) Stand in the Shadows… that whole album is fantastic, and I’m honestly surprised to see it get overlooked most of the time.
Not to mention that he had other great tracks on his follow up releases after RY as well.
As far as Whiplash Smile, you’ve got Worlds Forgotten Boy, Soul Standing By, both have great guitar parts, and there are other songs on there that would be tons of fun to sing. Charmed Life is the first without Steve Stevens, and it shows, but it even has some good stuff. Pumping on Steel is pretty good, Loveless is good too, his versions of L.A. Woman and Cradle of Love are great too.
After that, he put out Cyberpunk, which was a misstep IMO, except for one really fantastic song, Shock to the System, which is a heavy guitar and synth driven rocker.
He was pretty quiet post Cyberpunk. I think the only stuff he did after Cyberpunk until VH1 Story Tellers was a single called ‘Speed’, which he reunited with Steve Stevens on, and a song he sang on Tony Iommi’s self titled album called Into the Night. From then on I don’t know too much, and I’m long winded here anyhow lol. I guess what I’m trying to say is Rock Band could definitely use more Idol.
First time hearing about this info. It would be great to get the golden lineup back from the late 80’s to 90’s. I was listening to Megadeth a lot back in the 90’s up to the Youthanasia album. So I’m all for Nick Menza to come back. Too bad Gar Samuelson died, but from what I understand he was a heavy alcohol and drug user. Get that classic 90’s lineup back before people start croaking!I agree with you. I’d love to see Menza at least in there if they can’t work something out with Friedman. I’d be surprised if they got both of them though. Youthanasia was the drop off point for a lot of Megadeth fans, I personally like most of their albums though (the only one I don’t like much of is Risk, which I only liked the songs Wanderlust, and Prince of Darkness).
I don’t think any of the golden line up boys will be croaking of OD’s or anything, Mustaine, Friedman, Menza, and Junior are all clean and in pretty good health as far as I know. In fact, the only health issues Mustaine has had in recent years are the severe neck injury he got, and the beginning struggle with easy weight gain that happens when you get into your late forties (his new addiction a few years ago was M&Ms lol, he actually said that). That neck injury is pretty much why his vocal range went to shit I guess. He had to have surgery on his neck and it went wrong somehow from what I understand. Thankfully it wasn’t a fatal error that killed him, but it messed his voice up pretty bad ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_frown.gif” />
Gar was a fantastic drummer, but a very bad drug and alcohol addict. I believe he died of liver failure, which is not at all uncommon with heavy drug/alcohol abusers.
December 9, 2014 at 12:33 am in reply to: Guitar Hero stuff in the Database [Where does this go?] #434071I was wondering if there are/were any plans to polish up the Guitar Hero charts that are in the database that aren’t (at least to my knowledge) officially up to current C3 standards? Any answer long or short would suffice, but I’ve been curious about that and never really took the time to ask for some reason. Thanks!Nope.
I mean sort of… one of these days, if I run out of Stuff I’d Rather Do…
Lol, thanks for the answer, as I said, I had been wondering for a while about that.
November 4, 2014 at 6:33 pm in reply to: Nunchuck’s conversions and reductions 1.28.2015 Huge 20+ song Update #432151Hello my friends.I have been gone for a while. My father has been battling terminal throat cancer. On Tuesday afternoon, he finished his long fight; he passed on mercifully. It has been hard. For many months he fought so hard, even right to the end he wouldn’t give up. He had not spoken, eaten or drank in over a year. All his life came through a tube, and still, he fought. He was a brave man. He served his country during the Vietnam war, as a member of the US Air force. He served his community with more than 40 years work at the electric company. He also served his fellow veterans by being a Past Commander of the American Legion post he was a member of. He was a great father to me for 43 years, as well as my 2 younger brothers. He and my Mom have been married since 1968, nearly 46 years. He will be truly missed by many.
That is part of the reason I haven’t been around much. The stress of this time also took quite a toll my health. I am looking to turn a corner here. There have been several very supportive people here that I need to thank. If I have spoke with you about this, thank you for your kindness and empathy, I truly appreciate it.
Spindoctor, my brother thank you for all the time spent trying to help me get through all this. You are a great friend and one hell of a guy, so I am thanking you publicly. You are one incredible person that I will always feel I owe a debt of gratitude to. Your help and encouragement has been more than helpful. Thank you Brother!
Today I would also like to thank Sygenysis. He is a super kind and thoughtful soul, not to mention a talented and cool person. He has helped me with many songs, that helped me stay busy during some real dark times. So yeah, I know it wasn’t necessary, but you went out of the way to do some personally very touching songs. I am so thankful for all the kindness and support. You have touched me in a way I will never be able to explain. Thank you so much.
Thanks to Sygenysis, I have a song today that I would like to dedicate to my father and all those that have fought and are still fighting. It is another Warren Zevon song. It touches me deeply. The message is strong and positive. Please enjoy. Hear what Warren is trying to tell us. Don’t wait until the end to look back and enjoy life, Live, Love and Rock out while you can. Life is gone in an instant.

There will be more songs soon. I have some stuff in the works.
Thank you all.
I wish I could say I didn’t know how you feel, but I sadly do. I lost my father to brain cancer when I was eleven. He was told he had two weeks, but he survived for four months. He passed just a few days before my twelfth birthday.
I’m very sorry for your loss ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_frown.gif” />
Awesome and ok!I wonder why no one converted Sudden Death from GH though.
It has been done, but the stank is very, very prevalent on that chart. Its overcharted like crazy.
I just watched Heat (Robert De Niro and Al Pacino, not the recent comedy film) for the first time in a few years and that movie is just as good as the first time still. I also recently saw Expendables 3, which for some reason ignores the cast we really care about (the classic guys) for the better part of the film. The set pieces are also rather generic. Mel Gibson gives a good performance in it when he’s on screen though.
The last movie I had the pleasure of finding on DVD when I was out on Saturday was Carlitos Way. I like that film a lot.
Anyone who likes Sammy Hagar and Journey should check out HSAS, Hagar Schon Arronson Shrieve, a project that saw Sammy Hagar and Neal Schon team up. The result is pretty good IMO. The album is hard to find though, its called Through The Fire. Definitely an interesting listen.
I played the PT teaser the day after it came out without seeing any footage and thought it was quite nerve racking. The very last puzzle is total bullshit though. I had to look on the internet as to how to solve it. Other than that I’m hoping the developers take their time with the main game and throw in tons of easter eggs just like what Kojima is known for in his previous works. This series has been slammed by critics for the past 10 years and would be great for it to claim its crown again like the earliest games in the series.I agree, I feel the series really needs fresh blood, and Hewlett, while I have nothing against him personally, was not the right man for the job with Silent Hill if you ask me. I don’t really feel he “got” the whole thing that the original Team Silent were trying to do with the idea of Silent Hill (the location).
When he came into the series, a lot of things started to feel very forced, and many ideas that were meant to be kept for one characters journey through SH were shoehorned into other titles illogically. Pyramid Head is a prime example. Homecoming should have never had that character at all (even if its renamed). Pyramid Head was made specifically for James’ journey through Silent Hill, and it really wasn’t meant to be found in any other installments in the same or a similar form (even if the name of the creature is changed).
That said, I think Kojima might be the right man for the job. I think having him do this with the help of del Toro gives Silent Hills the real potential to be the best game since Silent Hill 4, maybe even 3.
August 31, 2014 at 9:33 pm in reply to: If you could have access to the multi-tracks of one artist’s work, who would you choose? #428383Either Pink Floyd or Judas Priest… or maybe Anthrax.
As much as I appreciate the fact that someone did some of these already, these are tracks that beg to be full band customs. I’d say Dark Side of the Moon needs to be done too.
I’d say if the keys cannot be charted accurately without stems, or there are only a few measures where keys are audible (or actually being played at all), don’t worry too much about it.
I feel if it’s too difficult to hear to accurately chart the key part, and the odds are that it won’t ever be to a point where its truly accurate, then there’s no point in bothering holding the song back to finish that.
My vote: release the songs where keys cannot be accurately charted either with the key chart ‘as is’ or without the key part entirely. No point in having the community have to miss out on songs where it’s improbable that the keys would be finished accurately.
These are exactly my thoughts. If a full pro-key release isnt possible, I would be more than happy with a 5 lane key part.I also agree with this.
