Yet another vocal pitching question

So I really want to start pitching the vocals in my customs, and I have a decent ear I think, but zero music background or knowledge,
I have read every thread I can find and most simply say use ReaSynth. That’s fine and all, and I finally think I understand how to somewhat use it, but I still have a question.
So lets say I have looked up the Key and all places say my song is in the key of A Major…
or to be more specific Key A Major, Camelot 11B (been reading about the camelot wheel as well)
In Reaper, the scale appears to be split into 5 sections if I am reading it properly, starting with C5 at the top. How do I determine which section I should be in? Am I just trying to match the midi sound from Rea or is there some correlation to the info I looked up and the C5, C4, etc… in Reaper ??

That depends on the pitch sung by the singer and their range within the song. When you get tubes placed in the midi editor, it should be pretty obvious when you playback with the reasynth on whether the pitch placed is too high or too low. Assuming you’ve got the right note placed, if it’s too high you drop the tube down an octave, if it’s too low then you do the opposite and raise it an octave.
The info you looked up regarding Keys will determine what you lock the editor too. On the bottom of the midi editor is a little checkbox that says “Scale”. If you click it, you then select the key and whether it’s a major or minor, and it’ll restrict note placements based on what’s in the key.

to add here. it doesn’t matter if you are an octave up or down, the game will register it in whatever octave you choose to sing. i will often use an octave up than the original singer when placing the chart since i can discern notes better at the higher registry. but for accuracy’s sake, you can place them in the octave the singer is singing in. however, you CAN have it lower or higher, as long as it’s in the right key and the notes are accurate.
