For you veterans out there, what does your work flow look like? Just wondering if there’s a better way to get thru songs and debugging. Always looking for a more efficient flow. Here’s my generally how things go for me.

    – tempo map

    – guitar

    – drums

    – bass

    – vocals

    – lyrics

    – overdrive for all tracks

    – export

    – magma debug x100

    – test

    – rinse and repeat

    I usually go like this.

    – tempo map

    – adjusting midi tracks to be all the right lengths.

    – drums

    – guitar

    – bass

    – vocals

    – harmonies

    – test in-game

    – add lower difficulties

    – add overdrive

    – add practice sections

      wow… My standard is

-spend 3 years choosing a song, and if there are midis or multitracks available

      -tempo map several songs

-do a bit of guitar or vocals

      -procrastinate

      -procrastinate

      -procrastinate

      -tempo map other songs

-eventually get back to the other song i was doing

-finish all the charts gradually in no order

      -eat a pizza

-watch that film i heard good reviews about and i’ve had on blu ray for months

-write songs for my new album

-end up jamming to some backing tracks

      -cry

      -lie in

-remember that song i was halfway through doing

      -put in those overdrive phrases

      -test

      -adjust accordingly

      -upload

now i discover this is not the norm?

      – Think of song

      – Go on youtube to look up song

      – Listen to “HQ upload” version in 1080p, despite the fact that the video is a low quality thumbnail of the album the song came from

      – Click on related videos

      – Repeat for an hour

      – Reminisce that the 80s and 90s were the best decades for alternative rock

      – Realize that glam rock, speed metal, grunge, and hard rock are dead, and Mumford and Sons make The Spin Doctors look like bloody AC/DC

      – Fall into depression as music decays as we speak, while eating gelato

      – Call ex-gf and bawl like a baby

      – Log onto C3 to see how everyone else does it

      – Get motivated

      – Repeat

        – Find out someone might need to pull a chart, making us short a song for a week.

        – In a panic, rummage through my short list of songs for something I can bang out in an afternoon.

        – Immediately shelve all RBHP WIPs.

        – Google the BPM because I probably picked a fixed BPM dance song.

        – Put one BPM marker.

        – Drums (expert only for all instruments)

        – Guitar

        – Bass

        – Vocals

        – Pro Keys

        – Harmonies

        – 5-Lane Keys

        – Stare at previews for GBDK for a while to see if it sounds right

        – Post expert only chart for internal review

        – Spend an hour on the venue

        – Open my thread and see nobody has looked at the song because nobody likes dance songs

        – Spend an hour on the venue

        – Open my thread and see nobody has looked at the song because nobody likes dance songs

        – Listen to Guitar and see some stupid thing I missed

        – Update testing thread (even though nobody cares FOREVER ALONE)

        – Reductions

        – Spend an hour on the venue

        – Record dryvox

        – Test in game, hate the way the lipsync looks

        – Re-record dryvox

        – Test in game, hate the way the lipsync looks

        – Re-record dryvox sounding horrible and over-enunciating to try and get lip sync to look like more than just :aaaaa:

        – Test in game, stop caring about lipsync, but adjust the venue because the animations don’t fit the song

        – Update testing thread, see no replies

        – Buy another video game to add to the pile of things I won’t play

        – Prepare final version for release

        – Find out the chart from Line 1 will be available for release as real life/computer/whatever problems are resolved

        – Put out song anyway, having it be overshadowed by something else

        – Cry myself to sleep because nobody likes dance music

        – Get angry PM from guy who thinks I did a crappy job on lipsync

        – Go back to charting RBHP

-Get idea for awesome songs that would work nice in-game

-Try to tempomap it only to find out the tempomap is bullshit

-Try to make Expert charts anyways and gives up

-Ends up charting something else and it’s finished in 2 days

-Start working on big pack projects for a while

-Get around to find a way to finish the hard project after months of inactivity

        -Burns out

-Plays “Orcs Must Die!” on Steam for a few days

        -Re-ignites

        -Repeat
