I recently stumbled upon this classic sounding prog power house and was surprised that no one took a stab at them yet.

There is some seriously beautiful works going on across their entire discography, especially in the absolute masterworks that are the Rites of Dawn and Silence to Somewhere albums.

Everything just sounds so rich and nostalgic while being its own original material. Seriously, the feelings you get from listening to them makes it hard to believe that theyve only started releasing music for only a bit over a decade now. And to add on top of the genuine and breath taking music under this bands belt, its cool to note that part of the charm of their music is that there is no use of MIDI or the use of any instruments made after the late 70s.

Considering how there always seems to be somebody torturing themselves working on charting long complex songs, it just caught me off guard when one day I decided to search Wobbler in the search.

      Hello and welcome!

There are quite a number of us on this forum that have interest in prog beyond the classical definitions (myself, Kloporte, SteveHasAMustache, beard, MrBurpler, and there are others I’m probably missing), it just takes time getting around to doing what we like or have interest in (Case in point, I have some Spock’s Beard in the fold I haven’t fully gotten to yet, as well as some lesser known prog bands).

Sadly, interest in modern prog has been limited based upon who you listen to. Every decade there’s revival attempts made that sometimes succeed (80s – Marillion and neo-prog, 90’s – Anglagard, The Flower Kings, US Prog Metal scene, etc; Millennials – Porcupine Tree and the Steve Wilson crowd). Some are content to go listen to “the oldies”, while on the flipside I’ve noticed that the commoner attraction towards newer prog trends toward the realm of Metal and Technical/Extreme Metal (There’s a plethora of these, but you know the most basic *coughdreamtheatercough*), or watered-down forms with some prog influence (Muse, C&C, Mars Volta). Attraction to anything outside of this seems to be limited to those that have “acquired the taste” or orgasm at the latest Steve Wilson album (I’m clean of that, thank you very much). To be honest, the most recently released “Prog” album I own is The Invention of Knowledge by Jon Anderson/Roine Stolt, which even then too me sounds like a knock-off of Yes mixed in with the style of The Flower Kings (granted, the whole band plays on the album).

I actually have gotten my hands on Wobbler’s music after seeing the ravings from ProgArchives, but haven’t had a chance to listen yet. I’m having enough trouble as is with finding time for old bands that didn’t garner much attention, slowly wading through the weeds. I’ll give it a listen at some point soon.

The 30 second previews on Amazon sound quite interesting <img decoding=” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” />
