This is what I should have done. I have the digital version with no legacy adapter yet and I don’t know when I’ll get it cause Mad Catz can’t get their shit together. The game itself is lacking a lot. The character customization is horrible, I only managed to get about 5 out of 12 of my pre-order bonuses as well so I’m really not happy with it at the moment. If I could return a digital copy of a game I probably would right about now. Really disappointed in this game to tell you the truth.

Ditto.  I’m always more about “content” than features, and the setlist hasn’t really excited me much.  I’m not going to spend $500 for an Xbox and a couple hundred more for instruments just to play “Your Love” and “Suspicious Minds”.

 

Maybe if the next couple of batches of DLC blow me away, then I’ll change my mind.  But right now, I’m okay with having played it conservative.

Well, release day came and went, and no delivery from Amazon.

 

But then, no XBone either.

 

I’m sure I’ll get around to buying the console one of these days, but given what all I’ve heard about people’s launch-day grief, it doesn’t sound like I missed too much.

 

And now the instrument controllers have firmware updates too?  Oy!

For anyone on the fence about it: GH guitars connected to the adapter with no problems and worked just as well as the RB4 guitar. You *can* do guitar solos but obviously only on the low frets since you don’t have the solo buttons.

 

The keyboard, however, does NOT connect to the legacy adapter. I’m concerned I may have even messed it up, since it tried connecting, turned off, and now refuses to turn back on even after changing batteries. So yeah, no keyboard as guitar. I was kinda hoping it might work like the Ions ended up working on the PS4. No luck.

Harmonix had confirmed they wouldn’t support the keyboard in any shape or fashion in RB4.  It was in the FAQ as an an answer to a “keys on guitar” question?

 

I know, still might have happened, but given how specific the question was and how thorough the answer was, I wasn’t bothering to cross my fingers.

Maybe this varies based on “how” you play Rock Band.  Personally, I am 99% a “social” player; playing with multiple people on one console at social gatherings.  I don’t play often solo, or online.

I haven’t seen much in way of “social” features that get me excited.  Sure, “freestyle” solos seems like an okay idea and I’m sure would use…but it’s not a “must get” for me.

 

That’s what’s great about RB, though…HMX does try to service each of these groups…albeit at different levels of success, it sounds like.
