RB4 will be waiting on my doorstep, either tomorrow or whenever Amazon gets around to delivering it, but I have yet to buy an XBone. I thought about it this weekend, but then got distracted by other things. I guess we’ll see. Odds are it won’t be tomorrow, though.
October 5, 2015 at 4:37 pm #456846Incorrect. USB cables end on the same shape and are backwards compatible. What is not the same shape is the end that plugs into your portable hard drive or device. But on the Xbox or PC it’s always the same shape. How do you think the wired microphones will connect? They’re not USB 3.0.
Thanks Nemo I didn’t know that as all my pc’s still have usb 2.0.
But the end that plugs into drum modular be different ?
There lies the problem for all E drum Kits Correct ?
October 5, 2015 at 4:39 pm #456847No, no problem as far as connection. If your device is USB 2.0, a USB 3.0 connection just adapts and works at slower 2.0 speeds. The problem with Xbox and USB is that Microsoft has some sort of authorization check that they don’t want to authorize Xbox 360 controllers on the Xbox One. But physically it can connect just fine.

Thanks good to know. As my wife is all over me. You bought new E drums & preordered RB4 and now they won’t work together !
October 5, 2015 at 5:38 pm #456860Won’t be playing until they add support for the midi adapter — not being able to use my drums is kind of a deal-breaker!

I’m genuinely surprised by how many people only started using their ekits with RB3.

Imagine how many more people would be playing customs if it were an advertised feature. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” />

No I mean I’m surprised not many people played their ekits with RB2, which would mean they already had a working MIDI adapter.
October 5, 2015 at 7:07 pm #456878That’s what I mean too. E-kits with RB2 was not an advertised feature. Dedicated players hacked it in, just like with customs.
Granted, using a GH controller is not much of a “hack” but it was certainly the foundation for some much more extravagant hardware homebrews.
October 5, 2015 at 7:12 pm #456879Fair enough, I missed your reference. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif”>
October 5, 2015 at 8:04 pm #456882I won’t. I haven’t moved on from “last generation” yet (excepting my Wii U). That makes RB4 a pretty big expenditure, since I need to get:
XBOne
RB4 + adapter
drums
I get genuinely anxious though, thinking about downgrading from my Ions. I’m hoping compatibility will be updated. Switching to PS4 would put me in the same boat, since I couldn’t use XB Ions on those, as I understand it. Not to mention, losing access to thousand or so DLC songs I have.
Anyway, fingers crossed that e-kit support comes by Christmas! Or that someone manages to figure out a good Ions/e-kit hack, a la’ RB2.

Actually, this brings up a very good point: E-kits can in fact be used on the XBox 360, if you have a wireless GH drum controller (or one of the homebrewed controllers based on wireless GH drums) and you don’t mind forgoing pro drums for however long this remains the only solution.
Those BH/WoR detachable modules suddenly just got a whole lot more valuable.
October 5, 2015 at 8:49 pm #456887There are also homebrew adapters that used RB2 drum modules and allowed pro drums. That’s what farottone has
October 5, 2015 at 8:55 pm #456889Hmm…
Is it against the rules to offer money here for hardware? ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” />
October 5, 2015 at 9:13 pm #456892I still have a Highly Liquid MIDI -> 8 x Optical Switch (MSA-P, I think) that I used with RB1.
Good times.
I guess, theoretically, it could still be used for Pro, with an appropriate donor kit, and the right connections.
They don’t sell it anymore, but I’ll bet their new MIDIWidget would work.
