Hello. I was authoring a custom, authoring the venue but when I went to test in the xbox, cameras and lighting weren’t the desired, and I hate test over and over all cameras and lightning for the desired effect.

So I went to see and record some gameplays in perfomance mode of many oficial rb songs I like that have good venues, in order to extract the midi and see what are the text events for those effects.

I started extracting old rock band songs (before rb3), and when I looked at the venue in reaper, I realized that they are totally different, with a lot of midi notes no longer avalaible for magma c3, and different text events.

So I went to extract some songs of rb3, all tracks of the midi exists, but the venue track doesn’t. They have 16 tracks instead of 17, so where is the venue?

All songs I extracted the midi are HMX official DLC, I haven’t tried to extract RBN 2.0

In RB3 and RBN 2.0, all the important lighting and camera effects are text events. The only MIDI notes you’ll need to use are the bandmate sing-alongs and bandmate spotlights. You can read up more on authoring camera and lighting effect on the venue here.

I know I know, but wanted to do the same lighting and camera of a specific song,so I wanted to know what were those text events. Since cameras and lighting vary per venue, it would be good to know how they work in different venues.

If you want, you could always PM me for help, I put a lot of work into my venues, and should be able to tell what venue effects are what. Or you could even post the videos on this thread, and give a time stamp and ask what effect is being used there.

    1) I think that’s lighting_verse, while using the “next” event every 1/8th.

    2) The guitar cut looks like just directed_guitar. Thing about that is, the game will pick from a pool of different shots every time, and some shots are also dependent on the size of the venue you’re playing in.

    3) The vocals shot looks like directed_vocals_cls.

    4) I’m thinking the shot of the vocalist, guitarist and bassist is coop_all_near.

    5) That post-processing effect is flicker_trails, with some shots switching to pro_film_a or something similar, with it fading to pro_film_a near the end of that example.

    6) The shot of the bassist hitting the camera is most likely directed_bass_cam

    7) I’ve not seen that shot a lot of times, but I’m thinking it’s directed_vocals_pt.

Additionally, here are some videos showcasing the different post-processing effects.

And here’s one with lighting, as well as showing how the [stomp] effect works.

RB3 DLC has venues in the milo. Currently, there’s no way to convert a midi venue to a milo venue. But I think it can be done. They can be inspected as text though.

Modifying the milo, you can use RBN2 post-procs even on no title updates or on Wii. You can even use unused post-procs like these. Other modifications that RB3 DLC milos can do is override the animation genre for the band, which is normally assigned by song genre. You can also override who sings harmonies 2, 3, and 4 to other band players. Oh, and add a harmony 4 part for aesthetic purposes.

Thanks for your help Gigakoops, thanks a lot.

This is the effect I can’t author properly.

At the beginning. the lights turn off with every kick hit. Also I want to do the opposite effect, I mean, lights are off and every kick hit turn them on for a quick moment.

I have tried stomp with next and strobe_fast, but nothing works for me.

You should start with a static lighting event (I usually use a flare as opposed to a strobe), and then using the [stomp] when you want the light to go out. And then use it again when you want it to come back on, etc.

Alternately, if you don’t want to use stomp, you could use blackout_fast when you want the light to go out, and then use the previous lighting event when you want it to come back on, etc.

It’s supposed to be a packed archive, like ZIP, RAR and 7z.

Harmonix has passionately used it in its past games. I would think they invented it.

What’s the first example from? I’d like to confirm this one, since I don’t think there would be any exclusive lighting effects to this.

it’s from (You can still) Rock in America by Night Ranger, old DLC. I think it is lighting frenzy.

Oh, then that’s not as fun to take apart. I’m just seeing [lighting(searchlights)] and [lighting(flare_fast)] for that part.

The rest in the song are fairly standard cuts you can already do.

For “Something Bigger, Something Brighter”, that’s just the RBN2 effect [flicker_trails.pp] and it switches to [video_a.pp] back and forth a bit.
