I saw this ages ago and was really interested, then I read it works only with RB2? Is that incorrect information?

No, it works with RB3 and customs too.

Cheers Faro, good news then, I know what I’m after now

      So, funny story…

Years ago I was pimping my Rock Band room and I chained together 3 stage kits, ordered from the US (I’m in Europe), so you can imagine the cost of shipping a fog machine. Anyway, a week before the next event I test everything and one unit is acting out, so I go and repair. Everything done, then shut down the Xbox and the main unit. After that I check if a cable is fine and I inadvertantly make two wires touch. That’s the moment I discover the Xbox still powers the USB ports even when shut down…

Yep, funny story. And that’s also why I now have 5 stage kits boxes.

I love my stage kit but it is a pain to use as the singer. I find the best spot is on the floor for the maximum length light columns through the fog, but then it pretty much sucks to have to get to that dang green button after every set. Let alone if you are switching singers and want to adjust the difficulty. And there’s no right trigger so you can’t jump through the setlist by category. And with the light pod/controller way over there you can’t use the A-button for percussion or the other button for activation.

But I still love that thing and suffer through all that on RB party nights! I cut the fog juice to about 70% distilled water and 30% juice to get more of a haze effect. Using straight juice can make it tough to see my 60″ TV from 8 feet away.

I need to get off my ass and do mod to the light pod and bring out the buttons to the mic stand so address all those first issues.

Well received my Rock Band Stage Kit yesterday, I am in the uk so waiting for a step down transformer to be delivered before blowing it up with high voltage!

But I already have a problem!

Kit came with Fogger with electrical lead and the light with a cable which is round at the end (nothing else in the box) , how does this connect to the xbox (do I need a usb adaptor to go on the end of this cable from the light ? if so which one)

I have ordered a ps/2 cable 5 metre which I believe will run between the fogger and light.

Am I on the right track? , oh and of course some water based fog juice.

        Any advice appreciated :-)

It sounds like you are missing the breakaway cable for the usb cable.

          this: http://www.amazon.com/HDE-Xbox-360-USB-Breakaway-Cable/dp/B0046RMJRU/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1402490018&sr=8-4&keywords=xbox+360+controller+dongle

The ps/2 cable is exactly what you need to go between the fogger and the light. It’s mystifying why that isn’t included.

              Hey guys,

I have everything in place now but i cannot get the rock band stage kit controller to come alive at all, fogger lights etc all seem to be fine.

im guessing when i plug the controller into the back of the xbox usb i should have the controller light up and assign me to player 1, this is not happening so i guess i have a faulty controller ?

So I am really interested in the Stage Kit however it is around the £100 mark now on ebay, as much as it looks awesome that’s quite a lot of money, is it worth it to the people who already have one??

Mr Wally, not just £100 you will also need a voltage convertor too £70 ish GBP for a decent one (for using in the UK)

First one I bought the light was faulty, I was luckily enough to find a new boxed one which works fine although the fogger seems to choke up quite a lot or the pump is not working 100%. ( I use a syringe to push the liquid through the tube, not ideal but it works, still to tinker with watering down the fluid) it has worked off its own accord on a few occasions though!

Saying that it is a lot of fun and I don’t regret it but that’s me (I like gadgets), it definitely enhances the experience in a dark room!

Bottom line would I sell it…. Hell No!

To update from the previous post and after yesterdays “awesome” movie pack releases i hooked up the stage kit as well as a sound activated light i bought about 6 months ago

To be honest the dusiec light gives much better stronger lighting through the fog than the rock band led and is a lot of fun if not too bright at times!, i would give this a shot first you definetely wont be dissapointed, you can also get from amazon a remote triggered fog machine ( dont have one ) so you can control when the fog goes off, there are really good alternatives out there that work out much cheaper. only thing you would be missing is the strobe! Have fun whatever you choose.
