Ahh poo. The huge concert venues look epic, and the dingy clubs look gash.
Although I now think you could probably make a venue fit a rockband song better, I still would’ve liked to have see music videos (think phaseshift).
What about you guys?
Me personally, I don’t like the idea of music videos. For one, not all songs have them, meaning Rock Band would have to stick with singles that do, meaning no full albums or deep cuts. Also, a lot of music videos break up the pace of the song, either for some dramatic moment, or some conversation that drowns out the actual song. That’s one reason why I’m sort of iffy on GHTV’s implementation, since it keeps all those breaks and conversations and such in the music video, and it’s less exciting to me than looking at a stage, seeing the lighting, etc..
June 25, 2016 at 7:02 pm #470972Well let’s say hypothetically that they could somehow be implemented, I think that rockband would probably be a blend of songs, some with music videos, some with venues.
Songs with music videos with breaks etc. Would probably have to have venues too.
I actually really like the rockband venues, but I can’t stop thinking about how bizarre the lip-sync looks, and how each band member looks to be made of about twelve polygons hahaha, ah I’m just being picky. But I quite like the effect GHL has, changes things up at the very least.
June 26, 2016 at 4:23 am #470996I personally prefer to have full band with harmonies. practice mode doesnt affect me, and the venues can be cool but sometimes distracting
June 26, 2016 at 5:05 am #471003People skip out on practice mode? I don’t do the sections with the intent that someone will practice (but it’s a good reason to), but also because it helps set a base standard for how crowd events are set and sections are charted. It also has the side effect of producing a rather decent auto-venue, right?
Right now, I only do customs if I can get Drums, Bass, Guitar, and Keys done for sure. Vocals optional, because I often can’t get a good dryvox. Practice sections, reductions, animation states and crowd states – always a must. And customized venue only if I’m really trying hard on it.
There’s no way to force a type of venue, sadly. It’s entirely random, with more arenas unlocking the more popular your band gets (as well as music video venues, of course).
Looks like this used to be possible in RB2? Now, short of cheats or ruining your save to force them, there’s no other way.

That an practice events are the easiest thing you’ll ever do when charting. They take what…15 minutes at most?

I would’ve thought more people would’ve done them. I kind of like doing them it’s quite satisfying to split up the song, and I use them in game too.
Without out them, the standard division of practice sections (in intervals of ten percent) is ridiculous ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_cheeky.001.gif” />
June 26, 2016 at 12:07 pm #471015What I consider a “good” standard custom on release:
- Legacy instruments – D/G/B/V
- CAT reductions
What I consider bonuses to make the customs better:
- Keys (if applicable)
- Harmonies (? I’ve never done or had to do this)
- Practice sections (one extreme case is Fountain of Lamneth which only has an intro, where I’d want to just play the drum solo)
- Venues/animations (?)
- Pro Guitar/Bass
Minimum for me to play it:
- Pro Drums

Both that and The Necromancer would have very numerous practice sessions now that I think about it. Which makes me want to fire up my Xbox to check how many 2112 has…
