I normally chart it to blue tom.

Depends on context, but I often go with a yellow cymbal. I find that the sound of a tambourine is pretty similar to that if a hihat, so it usually fits pretty well there.

One Harmonix example I can recall is in the intro to On the Backs of Angels where a few tambourine hits in isolation are charted as blue cymbals. So yeah, there are many ways to do it, go with what feels natural for the chart.

Well, I really don’t know if there’s an official answer. I’ve seen it charted yellow, blue, and green.

Whatever isn’t heavily used around it, if nothing else fits.

I’d do yellow cymbal if there isn’t any hi-hat around it, or blue cymbal otherwise.

Here’s where I got my answer to chart it to tom:

But yes, it does depend on what the context is. In my experience of charting tambourine, it was the only thing to chart–no other drums.

Because you got open hi hats in there, a blu tom is the best place to go, that’s a very good point.
