Got a good run on Killing Moon and Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door.

 

Got a good run on Natural Women and Blurred Lines which were hard to FC and my camera ran out of memory and then the music recorder randomly shut off mid performance. Some curse words were said. Things may or may not have been thrown. PR will confirm later.

 

Getting me very excited waiting for the video capture. Tired of this shitty phone.

 

edit: Really glad how the Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door turned out. Going to use that as a base for future videos. Well everything except the intro. It just seems to corny to me. I think I’ll just stick with my own custom made intro instead of a copied template.

First the bad. I didn’t realize that component cables only output 480i (which is really 260p) and not 480p. 480p was the bare minimum I was willing to capture. 260p is just way to blurry and pixelated. It’s either the Avermedia or back to the smartphone camera and since I don’t have the required disposable income just yet… camera it is.

Then I ran into an issue where the pro mic setup was causing a very annoying low hum.

 

The good. Figured out that with a low exposure combined with the final video rendered at 60fps and downscaled to 720p (from 1080p), the camera footage looks fairly good.

Also figured out much better recording settings for the pro mic setup that eliminated the hum and produced a nice clean even track with no clipping.

Also ditched the pre-made intro and weird outro with a more “hip” self-made intro and outro. I suppose it’s not REALLY needed but it might help real in some subscribers. I think it adds stability to the videos with a nice beginning and ending.

 

The best. Got some good FC runs on A Horse With No Name, Brianstorm, and It’s Raining Men. Uploads will be completed sometime today /tonight.

 

The neither here or there. My body tells me to sleep during the day and stay up at night but that means I can’t record. After working night shift for a year straight I’m still fighting my inner owl. I’m going to stay up all today and crash out in the late evening in hopes of getting me back into a normal sleep schedule and in turn get good recording sessions.

 

Of the 3 people who eventually stumble upon this post. I know you didn’t read it all and probably not even this. I’m a big think out loud person and threads are a good outlet for that. So I mostly write all this stuff for me.

edit: It’s Raining Men finished uploading and I think the quality of the video is a 100% better than before. Really digging the smooth 60fps animation and the interpolation of the game recording (30fps -> 60fps). Really sucks that cover songs are policed heavy on Youtube but at least no videos have been blocked worldwide or in the US. This video is blocked in the following countries: Australia, Christmas Island, Cocos (Keeling) Islands, Cook Islands, Heard Island and McDonald Islands, Kiribati, Nauru, New Zealand, Norfolk Island, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu, Vanuatu.

Heheh, yeah, that’s half the reason. Other half being that, as that song is by an artist I have contact with that knows the custom exists, I wanted to show them the resulting video, since this looks like a cool idea.

 

I’d debated between requesting this one and “Strangers” by Scratch21, as they both have great harmonies and both would be seen by the bands, but I went for this one since you do original octave harmonies and this particular song definitely fits that concept.

No problem at all. Truth be told I didn’t enjoy singing that Taylor Swift song much at all but I was glad to do it because it was user requested and I like making videos that want to be seen by others.

 

Choir songs are a bit weird though because they have tons of singers and usually the charted singers are the extreme ones that you notice the most like the soprano lady and the bass guy, both of which are usually out of my comfortable singing range. I can hit soprano notes but I can’t sing full words constantly up that high (if you watch the Taylor Swift video, that high harmony was very close to being do’able). Same is true with the bass singers on the low end.

TL;DR = Choir songs might require octave shifting.

I have every C3 song of course, then I have all disc songs (RB1,2,3,AC/DC,Lego,GreenDay), RockBand Blitz, then I have like quite a bit of DLC from the store but not even close to all of it. I also have Beatles RB (which I have already FC’ed all the songs on solo mode ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_cheeky.001.gif” />).

 

I don’t know of any good way to make a list of all my store DLC. Guess again I suppose? lol

 

I suppose a better approach would be to just make a request from a disc song (RB1,2,3,ACDC,Lego,GreenDay,Blitz,Beatles,TrackPacks (except country ones)) instead of trying to guess a DLC song that I have.

Upcoming solo videos include Mr. Roboto, Natural Woman, and I Get By.

 

Decided to abandon the background of the bands to a wallpaper instead to avoid copyright infringement on the images (the wallpaper image is copyright free). This also let’s me keep the vocal track in the center instead of trying to place it around the background pics. It probably looks more appealing to the eyes anyways.

 

The only thing now in my videos that are copyrighted are the back tracks and I let Youtube handle that. If the video is claimed then I acknowledge and don’t dispute it. So far I haven’t had a single video blocked world wide. I think if the Taylor Swift and Guns N’ Roses videos weren’t taken down I should be fine with any other video.
