So I’m currently in the middle of fixing up an old chart and I added harmonies to it.

Whenever I go to export the song, I get the following error:

Project Compiler: Entering Phase 2 of 5…
      MIDI Compiler: Starting…
ERROR: MIDI Compiler: (PART VOCALS): Vocal notes exist, but no vocal phrases found
      MIDI Compiler: Done.
ERROR: Project Compiler: Midi compiler failed.
My confusion here is that the error only shows up when I export the MIDI with HARM2 and HARM3 exported together. If I mute both of the tracks in REAPER and export, Magma has no issues.
Phrase markers exist in the correct places. I’ve made sure the vocal tracks are in the correct place. There are no illegal events.
Hell, HARM2 is basically a carbon copy of HARM1 with minor differences.
      halp pls thx

Do you have phrase bars in HARM1 that cover all notes in all three harmony parts? And do you have phrase bars in HARM2 that cover all notes in HARM2 and HARM3?

Also of course make sure there are phrase bars in the solo vox chart, though it sounds like that’s not the problem if Magma doesn’t complain when there are no harmony charts.

Thought I found a fix but just created a bigger problem.

ERROR: MIDI Compiler: (HARMONY2): No lyric phrases authored for HARM2, defaulting to HARM1 phrases
ERROR: MIDI Compiler: (PART VOCALS): Vocal notes exist, but no vocal phrases found
          (both of these are incorrect)
and there’s a section at the end of the song which I only put on HARM3, so I added it to PART VOCALS and now apparently 95% of the notes on HARM3 are after all lyric phrases

I’m unable to find anybody else that has had this problem on the forums. I’ve seen that error before but none of their fixes have worked for me.

Those errors are new to me too. If all else fails, load up the exported MIDI in REAPER (not your original project) and see if track names are getting munged somehow. Bad track names have been known to lead to all kinds of interesting Magma errors.

The problem is that it’s hard to debug these very obscure cases without actually seeing the RPP. With really rare error messages, nobody will be able to look at it and say ‘oh yeah, that’s usually caused by ‘. And if it’s a common Magma error, then someone has likely answered it already somewhere else on the forums and you would have found it by now.

It’s so easy for things to go wrong. Example: if you Ctrl+A, copy, paste from VOCALS to HARM1, then you also bring the track name over so HARM1 would have two track names. I’ve done that before but I think Magma throws a different kind of hissy fit for that.

I would be happy to look at either your RPP or exported midi to figure it out, if you want to PM that to me.
