How do I get Magma to shut the hell up and just export the song like it should be doing?!February 13, 2020 at 12:32 am #509671You probably have overlapping notes in PART VOCALS or a very short phrase marker somewhere. You need to fix that, the error is there, just not at the measures Magma is telling you.
February 13, 2020 at 12:35 am #509672Magma isn’t going to compile something that is going to break your game. I understand your frustrations, but don’t blame Magma. Magma is trying to help you! ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” />
Do you import your lyrics to directly attach them to your vocal tubes? If not, learn how to do that below (which I totally stole from elsewhere on the forums to send to bkloppenburg but right now I can’t find the source to credit):
1. Make sure you have the Rock Band Network plugins installed for Reaper, then open the actions menu (on toolbar at top of window, select Actions > Show action list).
2. On the top right of the action list window there’s a drop-down called “section”. From this, select “Midi Event List Editor”.
3. Search “Import lyrics for selected notes from file”.
4. Create a shortcut to the action so you don’t have to do this process every time! I think that default shortcut is SHIFT+L.
After that, I would delete all of your phrase markers and draw the tubes from scratch.
February 13, 2020 at 4:13 am #509674It can be tricky when first using Magma, I know some vocal pros will be reaching out to help you. Just hang in there and don’t give up. I had a hell of a time with Reaper and Magma at first, but now I am actually to a point where I feel I can help others.
February 13, 2020 at 12:33 pm #509677…export the song like it should be doing?!
If you fix those errors, it sure will. Here are some possible solutions:
“Confused by vocal phrase overlap around X” probably means your phrase marker tubes are blending into each other. Try zooming in to see it clearly or rechart the markers.
“Misaligned lyric at X (expected at X)”: your lyric events are not aligned with the note tubes. If moving them doesn’t work (zoom in), delete it and insert it again.
“Vocal note at X is outside any phrases”: There are no phrase markers above the vocal note tubes.
“Vocal notes past end of last phrase are being discarded”: Adjust the phrase marker all the way to the last vocal note.
February 13, 2020 at 6:01 pm #509680Zooming in is kind of time consuming. You can see the MIDI event table with alt+3 and you’ll see the exact location of every events. You can also open the properties of an event and see/edit the exact location.
February 13, 2020 at 9:55 pm #509682Thats the thing though, Atruejedi. I already have the RBN plugin installed, and have tried that command. It didn’t do jack shit.
also, I can’t wrap my head around this, so I might as well just give y’all the files to see for yourself.
February 13, 2020 at 9:58 pm #509683Here’s the issue though, EchoOfMystery. I’ve looked through the track countless times to see I anything is out of place, but everything is in order.
see it for yourself.
February 13, 2020 at 10:48 pm #509684Okay so just at first glance:
The “PART VOCALS” event is set as a Lyric, but it should be set as a Track Name.
Alot of vocal notes aren’t in phrases.
I’m not going to compile it to see what else there is, but those are game breaking issues and easily fixable.
The first issue, simply change the event type to “Track Name”.
Second issue, simply place vocal phrase markers for all the notes that are outside phrases.
February 14, 2020 at 1:00 am #509686Thats the thing though, Atruejedi. I already have the RBN plugin installed, and have tried that command. It didn’t do jack shit.
Did you bind the command to a key? It won’t do anything “naturally” unless you bind SHIFT+L to be the key combo that imports lyrics. And you have to have your vocal tubes selected, of course.
February 14, 2020 at 1:58 am #509688Well like Alternity said, there basically are only 6 phrase markers with the exception of whatever is going on in the very beginning. Think of a phrase marker as marking an entire sentence, or phrase. Something like this
And every lyric MUST be in a phrase marker
February 14, 2020 at 2:24 am #509689And the tracks are not the default template tracks so you cannot even load the color maps. It appears as though you cut and pasted new tracks in and deleted the template tracks.
And actually, I believe if you use the template and the track included in the template, you don’t need to bind the command, but if you use your own track, the Shift-L will not work.
February 14, 2020 at 4:02 am #509691ok, Thank you for the visual explanation. Now, is there a way to change the event type to “Track Name” without having to select each event individually to change it, and what row do you use for spoken words?
February 14, 2020 at 4:05 am #509692You can see the MIDI event table with alt+3 and you’ll see the exact location of every events.
There’s always something to be learned. Thanks.
