Hi, I’m new to the customs community, and I’ve got a question. Are you moving your custom songs to your hard drive or are you leaving them on your flash drive? I followed the instructions of having a 32 Gig flash drive for my customs and I ran into an issue last night that maybe you could provide some insight on.
Over the weekend, I downloaded about 200 customs to my flash drive and had a blast playing them. Last night, I added about 100 more and Party Buffalo added them fine, but when I put them in the XBOX, it only saw 256 of them. I took the drive out and put it in back in my computer and Party Buffalo only saw 256 also. I tried adding more and it wouldn’t work. I tried deleting the songs so I could try importing them again and the program would crash. At that point, my only option was to re-format the drive and start again. I got all the original 200 songs back on the flash drive and I was able to move them to the hard drive with no problem.
Is there a 256 limit on songs you can have on the flash drive? If so, why did the instructions say to use a 32 Gig flash drive if it only took 5 or so Gigs before it hit 256 files?
The only other problem I have is hitting the Harmonix song limit. I was a Harmonix completionist so I need to find more songs to get rid of. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_frown.gif” />
In closing, I want to thank you for providing new content for Rock Band. I’ll look forward to your new announcements. Between the customs, conversions and the Harmonies Project, my friends and I will be rocking for a long time.
April 16, 2013 at 11:05 pm #398490I’m not aware of such a limit… definitely be something to look into.
April 16, 2013 at 11:21 pm #398491Your not the only one RevengeFan with this problem. I’ve tried multiple brand and size memory sticks and cant seem to load more than about 250 to 300 songs on 1 memory stick. I use Horizon to inject. I’ve decided to just order a internal hard drive for my 360 to store custom songs which I’ve heard doesnt have a song limitation problem. I just want to know if this song problem is due to the 360 not being able to see more than 250 songs on a memory stick or Horizon/Party Buffalo fault with memory sticks?
April 17, 2013 at 12:10 am #398493Someone on Something Awful said if you copy the customs to the stick using the XBox, it’s okay. Sounds like the injectors aren’t quite the same as the X360.

Sometimes injectors screw up and just don’t upload files anymore. Change injector and/or check key integrity, then retry.

Its just annoying that these programs give the message that the files have been injected successfully but you go and look and they arent there.

I’m also a completionist and here is what I did for my official songs. All songs released pre RB3 that dont have harmonies, keys I put on a 120GB internal hard drive. All songs released after RB3 I have on another 120GB. I have 1 RB3 save data file that I move between hard drives depending on which I’m playing. Both hard drives have separate song cache files. Now the project is to get another 120GB hard drive to have as many customs as possible stored on it with of course a new RB3 save game file that stays on the custom drive.

Hi, that’s me.
What I have been doing is, leaving the USB stick I want to use for customs in the 360, putting all “new” customs I want to add to another USB stick, slotting it both sticks to the 360, and then copying from B to A.
It seems like (all?) the save file PC programs can’t handle more than 256 files in a folder for whatever reason, but the 360 has no actual limitation like that. Weird thing, but, what can ya do.
April 17, 2013 at 3:45 am #398506Hi guys I found the same trouble using Modio, indeed if you transfer via xbox fm one stick to the other seems to work but another workaround is creating two folders… One for rock band 3 game saves and one for rock band… For some reason using the injectors each folder is limited to a certain amount of songs. hope this helps
April 17, 2013 at 6:43 am #398508Thanks for all your responses. I just moved all the songs from the flash drive to the hard drive. Then I copied the rest of the songs that were left on my pc to the flash drive. If I get around to 256 songs on the flash drive again, I’ll move those to the hard drive also.

Sorry bit of noobie when it comes to the technical side. I have just brought a new xbox 360 slim. I plan to use my older xbox, which has a 250GB HDD for custom’s and Rock Band only. Also i have a RB2 export code which i want to use, will this affect any of the custom’s in any way?
April 18, 2013 at 12:55 pm #398525You should be fine on all counts.

If you don’t plan on taking the game online ever, it’s pretty convenient.
I only use the usb stick for TU4 and to transfer new songs in.
I always double check them first on the stick to see if they ‘ll show up,
then again after I’ve moved them to the HD. So far, so good.
May 6, 2013 at 4:31 am #399293SO glad I found this thread. Just had the issue pop up and was just like the heck! Thank goodness it isn’t a difficult solution.
May 8, 2013 at 5:07 am #399356I’m not sure I am having the same problem but I wanted to ask on here just in case. I have a 1tb hard drive with a 32gb partition that I set up with the xbox 360 that I put rockband dlc and customs on that have worked fine in the past. Recently I tried to add several customs by injecting through Party Buffalo and Modio but not one of them ever transfers over but when I right click drive properties in Party Buffalo the remaining hard drive space is filling up. When I inject them in Modio it renames and reformats the files. is this the same patern for all of you
