I prefer to wait and have all the songs when it will be complete
October 18, 2013 at 4:28 pm #408135I have no problem waiting for all the songs to be done.
October 18, 2013 at 4:47 pm #408139I’d rather wait too. Easier to manage!
October 25, 2013 at 5:58 am #408464Alright guys, time for an update. Not, not that kind of update, sorry.
At this point, this “new and improved” Beatles update is starting to feel like one of those games that got hyped up to heck and then got delayed and delayed and delayed and then came out and everyone was disappointed. I really hope that doesn’t happen with this Beatles update!
So, here’s what’s happening. The delays have been because Magma needed lots of fixing. I kept finding things wrong with Magma, and things wrong in Magma = subpar importing and processing of the Beatles songs. So really, all this time I’ve been working in Magma, i’ve been working on the Beatles. For You. Awwww.
But, good news. I did start. I have 9 songs fully Magma’d up. I can tell you, the fixes have been from minor to a couple of huge ones, and yes better audio quality, and better charts because now we have to comply with Magma, and of the 9 songs done, so far 4 have crowd tracks with screaming girls and all that fun too.
Question is, do you want me to start linking to the individual files as I test them? Or do you want to wait until I have the whole thing done?
If it helped you, I could download and test them. Otherwise, I don’t care to wait!

October 25, 2013 at 3:13 pm #408480Well it’s probably more of a hassle to upload and link to each file. I’m just going to push through with doing them all, testing them on my end, and then upload everything at once.
Up to 19 songs re-done, which include 2 with added keys/pro-keys, 1 with added pro guitar/pro bass, and 5 with a live crowd audio track with screaming fan girls and directed camera cuts to highlight the fan fury during the concert (thanks to OH for that last idea) ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” />
October 25, 2013 at 3:26 pm #408485Thanks for all your hard work, TrojanNemo and OH! Can’t wait to try out the new versions. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” />
October 28, 2013 at 3:28 am #40856658 songs done!
Don’t get too excited just yet, still got a few to finish, then test, adjust, and test again. So we’re at least a week away.
I wanted to ask you to contribute!
Erniewan has done a great job at providing me with very well done charts, but there are still many many songs that need keys!
columbo777 has done an excellent job at sending me pro guitar/bass charts, but just like with keys, most songs don’t have them!
If you want to contribute this is the time to do it. Shoot me a PM. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” />
October 28, 2013 at 4:31 am #408569AnonymousAwesome sauce. So the Beatles songs will be getting lots of upgrades! And still praying for Hey Jude before Christmas! (Sorry. Just random thought).
October 28, 2013 at 5:49 am #408570Fantastic news! Are all the Pro Upgrades released thus far going to be integrated into their respective songs? I’ve counted about 10 Pro Guitar/Bass upgrades looking at Coumbo777’s master sheet.
October 28, 2013 at 6:29 am #408574Definitely. This means all existing pro g/b upgrades are included, now verified through Magma (some required minor adjustments) and two new pro g/b upgrades that columbo777 sent me a couple of months ago and have never been integrated. I might have to take a look at his master sheet to make sure I have all of them.
There may also be a couple of new pro g/b upgrades charted by OrangeHarrison I believe.
October 28, 2013 at 6:44 am #408575I know that Oppistioner charted Taxman and Yellow Submarine and then Columbo777 has done the rest.
October 30, 2013 at 7:50 am #408630Alright guys, the update is close enough that I pulled all the old links. No sense in downloading things in their current state when in the next week or so you’ll have to redownload the whole thing, and trust me, you’re going to want to!
TBRB IN-GAME TEST LIVE STREAM SESSION!
I plan to start the first of multiple live streamings as I test the songs in the game. This is a great opportunity for you to see what the charts look like, what the new audio sounds like, and maybe even to help me spot errors.
My aim is to start streaming at about 1PM EST. Sorry about the time inconvenience, but given our time displacement no matter what time I do it it’s bound to be at the wrong time for someone. I will go for 2-4 hours, we’ll see how things play out.
The stream will be on http://www.twitch.tv/trojannemo at 1PM EST unless I come back here and state a different time.
What you can expect:
– All the charts will play and audio will not mute, so we can hear the final mix
– I will not be playing any instrument myself, I’ll be watching and taking notes
– I will most likely be stopping/resuming the songs if I need to stop to write down something
– I’ll be on the Twitch chat but probably will not respond until the song is over. In between songs i’ll copy any of your observations/comments/suggestions into my notes and all that will be processed at a later time.
I will not start streaming until I’m in The Beatles, so you won’t get any looks at upcoming / unreleased material while I scroll. Sorry!
October 30, 2013 at 2:21 pm #408642When you say improved audio does that mean you’re taking advantage of the unlocked 1-10 quality of oggenc in Magma or just new stems? I know the file size would be pretty big if you used quality 10 for multi-tracks, hah. Looking forward to this!
October 30, 2013 at 3:52 pm #408646It’s a combination of 3 things:
I went back to the original stems. Prior to this update, we were using the audio found in the V5 export back in the old forums. That means those were separated from the mogg, converted into WAV files, most of them had been resampled to 48kHz, volume adjusted, etc. All of this processing introduced artifacts and led to clipping in game. Some of the songs were also missing the backing audio track altogether. Now we’re using the closest that I have found to the original stems, no resampling, no enhancing, no post processing so we don’t introduce artifacting.
We’re using the new quality settings in Magma: C3 Roks Edition. The old V5 export was not even done in Magma at all, so I don’t know what quality settings they used. All of our updates until now were done using the old Magma, so quality 3. This is using the new Magma, at the new default quality 5. It’s a good compromise between file size and quality. All the songs together are about 1.6GB compared to the old 1.2GB, so not much bigger.
We’re using new attenuation levels. Following the advice of our resident audio engineer, OrangeHarrison, the audio is not being volume adjusted in the actual files. Instead, we’re using a default attenuation template of -3 for all the audio tracks and -8 for the crowd audio. This should only lower the overall volume by about 5% but should reduce clipping by about 95%.
Last but not least, the new songs with keys, most of them have had the key audio separated from the backing into their own stem, and a bunch of the songs also now have crowd audio for when you’re performing well in the song, you’ll get your own Beatles fan girl screaming at you every once in a while ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” />
Stream is going to happen on time. See you then.

I guess I don’t understand why attenuation is a concern since the files from TB:RB were already attenuated by HMX to begin with right? Seems like the stems from TBRB should just be usable in RB3 without any altering (except for the backing track as you stated). I’m probably not taking something into account and oversimplifying
