So I’ve been doing customs for a while now…everything works as it should.
Played the other night and noticed a couple of DLC songs won’t play. I get the “Unable to play, skipping song” message. The songs won’t preview and there’s no album art.
I’ve redownloaded the songs several times as others have instructed. I’ve reinstalled TU5 and played the game normally…the songs are there and play fine. I go back to TU4…songs aren’t working. Redownload…songs aren’t working.
Is there something else I’m missing?
June 6, 2014 at 4:41 pm #421888Seriously…no suggestions here?!? I don’t know what else to try.
June 6, 2014 at 8:16 pm #421904Which songs are they?
June 6, 2014 at 11:05 pm #421915It’s actually a lot more songs than I thought it was…guessing 50-70 songs. They’re all older ones (RB1 era for the most part).
June 6, 2014 at 11:51 pm #421919if it’s all RB1 you might need to go to xbox live and re download the export pack
June 7, 2014 at 1:33 am #421932It’s not the RB1 songs…those are fine. It’s the DLC that came out around that time.
Guess I should’ve said “Pre-RB2 DLC”.
June 7, 2014 at 4:23 pm #421973Were these purchased by a different XBL ID or on a different console?
You may need to perform a licence transfer — if you’re playing online under TU5, the game can verify the licences and will load the content, but under TU4 (which will be offline) it won’t.
June 8, 2014 at 7:19 pm #422049As I said, I’ve tried everything.
Did license transfer just prior to dealing with any customs. Redownloaded all songs just prior to dealing with customs.
Old DLC songs still do not play.
June 8, 2014 at 7:32 pm #422050Did you delete your song cache?
June 8, 2014 at 9:07 pm #422053Did you delete your song cache? Will that help? Why would the cache prevent me from playing the songs? That would mean losing my scores, which I suppose I can live without, but I’d like to be reasonably sure first.
Someone else suggested taking the files from the HD, converting them to CON files, then copying them back.

If you’ve played the game normally, then your non-custom scores are saved to Rock Central.
I accept losing custom scores as a fact of life. The workarounds are too clumsy.

The CON thing might work, unless the files themselves are bad.
June 8, 2014 at 11:15 pm #422072I don’t think the files are bad since they work under TU5.
This will sound dumb but…
You’re saying I should back up the cache. Back it up to the PC?
When you say delete the cache, you mean from the HD?
Still don’t see how the cache would prevent the songs from playing. Some of the DLC still works.
June 9, 2014 at 11:52 pm #422153Did you delete your song cache?Deleted the RB3 Song Cache. Restarted the game. Game created new cache.
Now instead of the DLC not playing…they’re not there at all. 70 songs are just gone.
I went back to TU5…everything is fine. Go back to TU4…songs missing.
So now I’m worse off than I was before. Why is this so complicated?

Do you get the same result with TU5 offline? Still sounds like the licensing thing to me.
