May 4, 2016 at 2:39 am #468115Nemo, your version of Bloc Party Helicopter is no longer in the C3 database. Any chance you could re-upload it?
August 2, 2016 at 5:49 pm #472803I know this is an old thread (and I’m glad to see others still comment on it here and there though), but I had no idea that there were custom songs – like these ones – that were floating around out there that weren’t in the C3 database. I completely understand why they’re not in the database, if they’re not up to the standards C3 has set up… which is awesomely amazing by the way, that you guys have such standards in place for the songs that get put into the database… I was very, very, very concerned when I initially downloaded my first few custom songs… I was sooo worried that the quality would be night/day different from the Harmonix released songs and the DLC that they’ve put out for RB3, but I’m very glad to see that about 98% of the songs I’ve downloaded – only about 350 – 400 at the moment, lol – have been damn near perfect… When I showed my friend my customs on RB3, he couldn’t even tell the difference on most of them between the custom songs and the regular DLC. lol.
With that said, I’m going to be brave and download a few of these songs that I absolutely love and have actually been wanting to see on the C3 database…. so we’ll see how they are when I actually load em up and play through em. Aaaaand, the actual reason for my comment here…. I was wondering if there was still possibly improvements/upgrades being done on this list of songs that haven’t yet been put into the C3 database? And if so, can any light be shed on which songs are currently being touched up and improved? For me personally, I’m most interested in… Barbie Girl by Aqua, Scotty Doesn’t Know by Fountains of Wayne, Craig by Stephen Lynch (would also LOVE to see more of his stuff show up on here, lol), aaand… off the top of my head, since I’m on the second page and can’t look at the list at the moment…. Sexy and I Know It by LMFAO (I was thinking that I reaaallly wanted this song to show up in the database, when I downloaded one of their other songs I saw on here, ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_biggrin.gif” /> ).
Anywho, that’s my long comment. Thanks for reading through it all …or thanks for jumping to the end and reading this. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” /> Lol.
August 2, 2016 at 9:11 pm #472812To explain some of the terminology, generally when you say “C3 database” people think about the collection of songs given “C3” branding back when the Collective was putting out their own weekly releases between when RB3 DLC stopped and RB4 DLC started. People were still creating their own customs even back then, and some of those other customs were pretty darn good, but only those released “officially” by the Collective appeared in the C3 database. That database is still accessible with the “Legacy Database” link.
The new database is simply the “Customs” database, and everyone is welcome and encouraged to contribute to it. There are no rules or requirements for contributing to the new database. Songs don’t even have to be full-band. Some customs still don’t appear in the database, either because the author doesn’t yet want to add them, or the author simply hasn’t gotten around to adding older works created before the new database was announced. The new database includes entries for all of the C3-branded songs, so you really only need to check one database for customs, but as you’ve noticed, it’s still a good idea to search the forums as well, just in case there’s an older custom of your favorite song that’s not yet in the Customs database.
August 2, 2016 at 10:27 pm #472815Okay, thanks for the clarification on the terminology. When I mentioned the “C3 database”, I was referring to the customs database as a whole. Lol. Even though the songs that are added to that don’t necessarily follow any particular rules or guidelines… clearly there seems to be some sort of unspoken (possibly?) necessity or desire for high quality customs. I say that because if there wasn’t any sort of necessity for high quality customs, then these batch of hidden gems would be in the customs database as well, but they’re not… presumably because they need to be worked on and improved in whatever ways are needed. And when I say ‘high quality’ I don’t mean by having all instruments or whatever for the songs, or having all difficulties be available.. I just mean high quality with regards to the instruments and difficulties that are available for any particular song, and making sure that the notes you’re playing on the screen make sense with what you’re hearing in the song… I hope that makes sense at all? Lol.
When I first came across this website, after first hearing about the whole world of custom RB songs, the first thing I actually found was the official C3 branded database of songs… and then from there found the massive customs database that I…check every single day to see what new stuff has possibly been posted. Haha.
Thank you again for clarifying that for me though. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” /> Now I know how to refer to the different databases and my noob-ish ways don’t show through when trying to talk about it all.. Lolol. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_biggrin.gif” />
Oh… question actually. Is there any sort of easy (or easier then simply clicking each post in the forums where people would be posting their custom songs that aren’t in the database yet) way of finding these custom songs that have been made, and posted in forums, but are not yet in the database? I’ve been trying to look around for more of them, and the only reason I actually came across these ones is because there’s a link to this post with all these songs at the bottom of all of the OP’s posts and comments (I guess his ‘signature’ at the bottom of his posts, or whatever it would be called?), where it says “old, non-C3 customs” or some such thing, I think. I’ve tried looking to see if other people have links like that to their customs on the forums here, but they haven’t been as easy to find as the OP’s was… So, thank you very much TrojanNemo for making these old custom songs easily findable and visible for the public to see them and download them. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_biggrin.gif” />

It does make sense, but really there isn’t anything so formal as even an “unwritten” rule that states you must be ready to call your custom “done” before it appears in the database. I think most authors prefer to work that way — I know I do — but other people have expressed a desire for the database to be a hub of collaboration as well, where people can post works in progress and ask others to contribute. That kind of happens already with people posting customs with only one or a few instruments charted, but as you’ve noticed, even those tend to be “complete” and ready to go at least on those instruments. Customs authors do indeed take pride in their work.

I know one or two folks at one time were keeping their own spreadsheets of customs they’d found, not only here in the forums but from other sources outside of C3. I’m afraid I don’t know of any currently being maintained. Maybe somebody else does and will chime in. In the meantime, don’t be afraid to use the search bar for specific songs on your wish list. You may only find that others have requested the same song, but then you might get lucky and find more older customs waiting to be enjoyed.
August 3, 2016 at 12:52 pm #472844These songs are most definitely not going to get updated by me at any point. I stopped authoring years back and I don’t even have REAPER installed at this point. I could swear I had added them to the database. I guess they never were? I’ll get around to that this week then. But you’re getting what’s on here. If anyone wants to fix them up, by all means, do so.
August 3, 2016 at 2:45 pm #472846Done. Added all song links to the customs database and edited OP to remove links. Will leave the text there in case anyone is searching the forums rather than searching the database (tsk tsk) will find this, and see to go to the DB instead.
August 4, 2016 at 1:20 am #472864Thank you for adding them to the database! ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” /> I downloaded pretty much all of the ones I’d wanted from here, but it’s nice to have them in the database so that if anyone wants to work on them or anything, maybe they’ll be able to find them easier (and that way people aren’t doing any of these songs on their own without realizing that you’ve already done them and they just aren’t in the database yet, lol).
I played through most of the ones I’d downloaded – Barbie Girl, Sexy and I Know It, Y.M.C.A, and one or two others, and they seemed good to me, but I honestly am not instrumentally inclined in any way, so unless something was waaaaay off in some obvious sort of way, I probably wouldn’t really notice anyways… Haha. Plus, bass often gets…. drowned out, or less heard throughout most songs anyways, so it’s hard to tell sometimes exactly where the bass is at when trying to find it by ear alone. I enjoyed them though and I loved playing them… even though my bf found my enjoyment of playing Sexy and I Know It quite comical… Lol.
Even though you don’t author anymore TrojanNemo… I have to say, thank you very, very, very much for all of the work you have done with authoring songs and getting them out there for us avid fans of RB to enjoy. I honestly was not at all aware at how enormous of a fan base there was for RB, or that customs existed, or that anyone would love RB so much that they would devote the time and energy into making sososososo many custom songs that are now in the database on this site. Lol. I certainly didn’t think that I was completely alone in my love and obsession with RB….. but I didn’t think that the crowd of people who loved and obsessed over it like I do would’ve been so large. I’m glad it is though. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_biggrin.gif” /> So again, thank you for all of the awesomeness you’ve done (and still do, even if that awesomeness isn’t authoring songs anymore). ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” /> I really like that C3 encourages supporting Harmonix, with buying DLC and not trying to “steal” in any way by having customs for songs that are already in existence that can be bought as DLC and such. The idea that, “Customs wouldn’t exist without Harmonix, so by supporting Harmonix, you’re supporting C3 and custom songs in general,” is amazing, really. RB4 hasn’t exactly been what a lot of people wanted it to be, and to some it still isn’t where they want it to be even now… but, if the support for Harmonix isn’t there, then it’ll never be where we want it. Sooo, thank you, and thank you C3, for being super awesome and amazing and being in existence. Hahah. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_biggrin.gif” />

Hm. Gonna take you up on that for several of those.
December 1, 2017 at 1:54 am #492945Anyone want to do me a favor?
Check which of the songs listed in this OP aren’t available on the DB and make a list for me so I can re-upload them this weekend? I’ve gotten random requests for songs here and there and I haven’t paid attention to this space. Sorry.

I’m pretty sure every song in the OP is accounted for in the database. A handful were pulled for being DLC, and a couple others were uploaded by other authors, presumably with fixes (TheWay uploaded Helicopter by Bloc Party and the Pokemon Theme was uploaded by another author.) Although the Pokemon Theme was part of the list of songs that you made changes to, so I’m assuming your CON may not be the same. Everything else seemed to be present.
EDIT: I may have misunderstood. Do you mean which ones have broken links?
EDIT EDIT: Tested links also. Nothing is broken either.

December 1, 2017 at 4:47 am #492956Awesome. Don’t know why people have messaged me for missing songs then. Carry on.
