Hello all, I thought I’d post this up as it may be of some interest to the community given we’re all here for music-related purposes.
I’ve been podcasting for a few months now and my show, Threadwork is essentially a love letter to music of all types. The central concept is to try and work out what it is that links together all the music that I and the occasional guests I have on love. But it’s also an excuse to play an eclectic selection of records and as someone who used to DJ regularly this is an extension of that desire to play what I deem to be great music to people.
Why am I posting this here? Because through C3 and the authors and players in this community I have been exposed to incredible music that I almost definitely would never have heard elsewhere. In this fortnight’s episode alone (number 10) there are two tunes that came directly from C3 – Ween’s ‘Push Th’ Little Daisies’ and The Lemon Twigs’ ‘Baby, Baby’. There are more too in other episodes (I think) and there will definitely be others in the future.
Each instalment is accompanied by episode notes which contain links to independent sources (Bandcamp, etc) so listeners can buy the music played (if I can find them) as well as a link to a Spotify playlist that contains the tracks in the episode that appear on Spotify at the time of compiling. The podcast files themselves are large as I use the maximum quality possible (most episodes are 320kbp mp3) but don’t let that put you off.
Please feel free to listen, subscribe and share – there are a number of places to hear it and I’ll post some links below. Perhaps your new favourite record is waiting to be discovered? Oh, and it’s fine not to like everything that’s played – there’s always a different record to listen to afterwards.
Any feedback gratefully received.
Cheers,
Ross

August 24, 2018 at 4:57 pm #500441A new episode, number 11, is now available.
It’s an older mix that I pulled together back in 2002 that I found during a tidy up. I had a listen and it sounded very Threadwork-y so I thought it would be interesting to post it up as an episode as all of the tunes stand up today. It’s a fairly electronic-heavy selection but not entirely and was mixed at a time in the early 2000s where there was a lot more crossover of guitars and electronics.
The intro spiel talks about some amazing new musical discoveries that are more guitar/rock/indie/alternative in nature so perhaps that’ll be of some interest too. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” />

September 7, 2018 at 9:00 am #500683Episode 12: The Life Aquatic is now live.
This fortnights episode features a watery selection music for your consideration. Not watery as in thin, but watery as aquatic, liquid, wet. You get the idea. Many genres are covered as usual and some of the artists included are Nilsson, River Ocean, Young Fathers, Richard Hawley and Metronomy.
Massive nod to Wes Anderson’s beautiful The Life Aquatic film too, obviously, given I wholesale nicked the title of the episode from it.
Links to various places to find it below – hope you enjoy.

September 28, 2018 at 10:51 pm #501051Episode 13: Non-English Language Part 1 is now live, though I’m a bit late posting here.
The first of a two parter, this is a collection of music sung or spoken predominantly in languages other than English. Essentially this episode is split into two halves – it’s a back to ’99 house music mix in the first half with amazing records showcasing three different textures of house, albeit with a heavy lean towards live percussion – and then there’s the second half which is more esoteric. Ambient, digidub, electronica, jungle and more all feature along with more besides.
I’m really pleased with this and perhaps you might enjoy it too. Follow the links for ways to listen.
Cheers,
