January 25, 2019 at 12:47 pm #503140Thanks for this great doc. I’ve been dabbling with editing existing customs so far but after reading through this a few times and getting used to Reaper I now plan to start on my first custom.
March 12, 2019 at 10:49 pm #503838AnonymousExcuse me. the link from step 3 is unavailable. how can I complete this tutorial without this part?
March 13, 2019 at 6:29 pm #503842May 6, 2019 at 3:43 pm #504920Question: Is it possible to use an alternative to Reaper? It is very expensive, and a bit restrictive.
May 6, 2019 at 7:16 pm #504922Reaper is free, as long as you don’t use it commercially.
I’m not sure where the restrictive comes from. The other tools to authors are pretty restrictive compared to reaper.
May 6, 2019 at 10:29 pm #504925Technically REAPER isn’t free, it’s just the demo version doesn’t have any limitations nor trial period (they say 60 days, but there is no real time bomb inside the program). A personal-use license costs $60, which is a whole heckuva lot cheaper than similarly-featured DAW’s.
As for “restrictive”, what do you mean by that? I haven’t used a whole lot of DAW’s myself, but I found REAPER fairly easy to learn (much easier than Digital Performer). Except perhaps for some audio/WAV editing that I have to go to Audacity or reZound for, I’ve found everything I need for customs authoring in REAPER.
June 18, 2019 at 5:12 am #505669First of all, huge THANKS to Farottone and other contributors to this guide which is an invaluable tool ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” />
Do you know if Harmonix advanced documentation is still available somewhere? The links to it inside the C3 tutorial don’t seem to work for me.
I think the tutorial itself + the two videos are enough to learn authoring, but it’d be nice to take a look at Harmonix instructions also if still publicly available.
EDIT: …or are they exactly the same as those in the wiki here? http://docs.c3universe.com/rbndocs/index.php?title=Main_Page
July 22, 2019 at 4:26 pm #506155Anonymousand what about the VSTI plugins? i can’t analyse my work without these plugins, where can i get them?
July 22, 2019 at 8:42 pm #506157August 12, 2019 at 4:47 am #506544AnonymousI have some customs in progress that contain Keys, but I don’t want to do PRO Keys. Is there any way to ignore RK without having to include the minimal parts in MIDI?

Aren’t there plenty of customs with Keys but not ProKeys? I thought that if you just remove the PK track and setup Magma accordingly, the game will show “No part” for PK even if you have normal Keys.

I would also like it to work out this way, but when testing or even building the custom, the program points out “Could not find MIDI track authored for real keys, possibly due to incorrect track name event”

I’ve done it once or twice. It has been so long that my comments should be taken as just pointing you in the right direction.
Magma has check boxes for ” “Auto-generate ‘fake’ pro-keys” and “Auto-generate keys animations” on the Game Data tab. Just chart 5 lane keys as normal and when compiling check those boxes. Then also make sure the check box next to Pro Keys in the Difficulty section is not checked. Should work.

ok, i will try it.
In DTA can I edit a language other than Magma? and another music genre that doesn’t contain there either?
