Short and sweet this time. Not all songs not all hints blah blah.
- The obvious selection that should have rounded out a three-pack of RB DLC for this artist, this curious track helps to ensure we satisfied our “awesome 80’s saxophone” quota.
- While we did get an album from this act, it’s a little fishy that this (aruguably) deep cut from another album never made its way to Rock Band. I’ve always wondered what Harmonix was thinking.
- This track was considered ‘too brutal’ for Guitar Hero due to its lyrical content, though some of the other tracks that came out (and would have been released alongside it) weren’t exactly saintly, either. Another song of theirs would surface in its place.
- This famous 90’s track is notable for describing itself in hindsight.
- A number of tracks join the lone already-in-RB single to finish off this album from the early 90’s. Though it would essentially be their last (and arguably only) success in North America, the band remains fairly huge in Japan to this day.
June 19, 2014 at 12:26 am #422801Is the first song “Who Can it Be Now” by Men at Work?
June 19, 2014 at 1:05 am #422806AnonymousI’m a bit confused at what the first hint is meaning… Is it saying that the artist should have had a three-pack of RB DLC or did so?
June 19, 2014 at 1:12 am #422807I read it as “should have had a three-pack”. In other words, the artist currently has only two songs.
June 19, 2014 at 1:45 am #422813Yeah, the first hint is no doubt Men At Work’s “Who Can It Be Now?”
In regards to hint #2, bands that have had full albums to download in Rock Band: Bob Marley, The Cars, The Clash, Foo Fighters, Green Day, Guns N Roses, Jane’s Addiction, The Jimi Hendrix Experience, John Lennon, Judas Priest, Megadeth, Motley Crue, No Doubt, Pantera, Pearl Jam, The Pixies, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rush, Stevie Ray Vaughan.
Hint 3, too brutal for GH? That’s definitely Slayer’s “Angel of Death”; they originally wanted to use it in Guitar Hero: Metallica but Microsoft pretty much wouldn’t let them (and the saintly clue).
I’ve got a feeling Hint 5 is talking about either Blind Melon’s debut album (“No Rain” is there only song in the game) or Mr. Big’s “Lean Into It” (“To Be With You” is their only song in the game.) My money is on Mr. Big.
June 19, 2014 at 2:34 am #422817Good call on Mr. Big. They are indeed randomly huge in japan, according to an expert I just asked (googled).
I wonder if the second clue is a Clash song? They had an album release and were also featured in the (arguably) punk packs, and espher’s clue has “(arguably)” in it. ‘Course it also has “fishy” in it, which seems kind of…fishy.
June 19, 2014 at 6:59 am #422825Farottone released a Mr. Big album before C3 started so it has to be that. I played a 2X bass pedal song off that album and really enjoyed it a while back so I’ll be glad to play it again with polish.
June 19, 2014 at 10:31 am #422829#2 = The Cars – Drive?
June 19, 2014 at 1:34 pm #422838I wonder if the second clue is a Clash song? His “fishy” and “deep cut” remarks make me want to look for something that deals with water/the ocean but then he says “I’ve always wondered what Harmonix was thinking”…which makes me think part of or all of that phrase (minus Harmonix) could be lyrics from the song?
June 19, 2014 at 1:34 pm #422839The Safety Dance?
June 19, 2014 at 2:46 pm #422849Hint #4: Save Tonight? Because after that song… Eagle Eye Cherry was gone.
Hint #2 could be referring to “Where Is My Mind?” from the Pixies. It’s probably one of the better-known songs off Surfer Rosa (although never released as a single – hence “arguably” deep cut), contains the words “little fish” in its lyrics, and there’s the whole connection between “mind” and “what was Harmonix thinking”. Seems plausible.
EDIT: Typos and whatnots.
June 19, 2014 at 3:53 pm #422869I was thinking or maybe hoping Drive as well!

Now that I think about it, you’re very likely right. I know someone had released a custom of “Where Is My Mind?” somewhere on these boards, so it probably wouldn’t take much to polish up to C3 standards. And his line of “What was Harmonix thinking?” makes MUCH more sense in context of “Where Is My Mind?”
June 20, 2014 at 5:34 am #422971If its drive i will flip, will finally finish off the amazing selection of cars songs in rockband.
June 20, 2014 at 12:10 pm #422992While “Drive” would be an excellent addition, it wouldn’t remotely finish off the selection of Cars songs.
That having been said, it doesn’t seem like we’re going to be making much more progress with these hints. See you all at 10!
