I had to rush through this one because I got home later than expected tonight, so apologies if the quality is lacking.
This hint thread discusses a sampling of songs released this week, spread among two fairly distinct themes. I don’t know if it’s Jimmy Buffet and Disturburbed levels of distinct, but it’s reasonable close.
- You best be steppin’ off, because this track is saxy and you know it.
- With the album it ended, this song’s lyrics would prove to be true.
- No, we don’t have transgender canine-human hybrids in my homeland.
- Vernes’ hero got lost in the infernal valley of early licencing hell.
- This cover of a track in the C3 catalogue has nearly double the YouTube views of the original and probably fifty times those of the track it mashes in briefly. Poor Melissa.
- In the immortal words of Ishkur, THOMAS BANGALTER!!!
- Someone needs to tell these kids that they can do the things in this song with this song.
- Amber Alerts don’t grow on trees, but the movie this track samples showed us what could happen if they did.
- Revolutionary war patriotism and electric guitar at its finest.
- This bass makes me crave something sweet.
July 17, 2014 at 1:41 am #424784I had to rush through this one because [ reasons ]You know…you say that every week

Also, Jules Verne got mentioned in a Rock Band forum. Never thought I’d see the day. I’ve been a huge fan of his books since I was 7 years old. (I sure hope that’s the Verne you’re talking about).
EDIT: As a matter of fact, look at my avatar. My entire band logo is inspired by 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, same as my band name, The Nautilus, and my long-standing nickname with my friends, Nemo.

That’s because it’s true every week.
At no point do I have time to sit down and leisurely spend 3-6 hours making a hint thread.

July 17, 2014 at 2:33 am #424786Clue 3 – Rebel Rebel by David Bowie
July 17, 2014 at 4:13 am #424789LCD Soundsystem – Daft Punk is Playing at My House?
Nemo, have you seen the classic film adaptation of Mysterious Island? Herbert Lom is my favorite version of Captain Nemo.
July 17, 2014 at 7:32 am #424790Every week I go into these thinking maybe just maybe I’ll know one. Never has that day happened. Too big of a fan of you guys to not look though!
July 17, 2014 at 3:16 pm #424807Geeze. I can’t even come up with a fake wishful thinking guess this week.
July 17, 2014 at 4:38 pm #4248131 – Baker Street – Gerry Rafferty. Since it’s a train station. And you step off trains. And it’s saxy.
Man, I got nothing. One week I’ll get one dagnamit.
July 17, 2014 at 5:04 pm #424816These ones are all pretty tricky and I would expect 3-4 of them to get correct guesses “relatively” easily.
There’s some intentionally deceptive wording in a couple, too.

July 17, 2014 at 6:48 pm #424817Is the 10th A Taste of Honey or something like that?

July 17, 2014 at 10:15 pm #424825If we got Baker Street – I would be the happiest person on here!
July 18, 2014 at 12:46 am #424834If we got Baker Street – I would be the happiest person on here! That first hint might be pointing to Careless Whisper, which would also be cool.
July 18, 2014 at 3:07 am #424842Man, I wish I knew more about music to make some half-decent guesses. Oh well, someday there’ll be a Chilean music week and I’ll be there to guess them!

July 18, 2014 at 4:52 am #424844Emphasis on the “kid” part. Cringey stuff.
