      Hi friends!

I will tell you this: all of this week’s songs share a common theme, and if you can pinpoint one, that might help you decipher these other cryptic hints.

      • Already on disc, DLC, and customs, but now, right in the pineapple.
      • Viva Vargas!
      • Broke Carmen Sandiego’s heart so badly, she never visited any of the named locales.
      • Elementary: the first from liquid hydrocarbons and #79.
      • The roadie was an actor, but he wasn’t actually German.
      • Is it time for something pompous? Or maybe prog? Yes. It’s time.
      • He named it after his mother, who was in turn named after a novel, which contained eerily prescient passages.
      • An alarm clock might have prevented this song from ever being created.
      • Reminding us of the song’s title at the start of every verse was a good way to get this atop the UK charts — something that should have been done with follow-up songs, apparently.
      • By unintentionally tying this song’s title to our inevitable slow march towards death, the follow-up answers the debut’s question with a “probably”.
      • It cuts like a knife. Or do you cut it with a knife? Whatever.
      • The kind of thing you’d listen to on a gloomy day. But it’s not part of a concerto.
      • This one-hit wonder spawned a webcomic almost 20 years later.

Wow…those are some clues. I’ll get it started…

Clue #2…The painter Alberto Vargas painted the cover of Candy-O by The Cars. So maybe something from that album.

        Clue #4…Something about gold?

        Clue #6…Genesis?!?

Clue #13…”Bad Machinery” by Let’s Active

        Anyone got something better?

One of the songs also has one bass solo and two sax solos.

                Bass solo? Impossible.

Is #1 a hint that we’re getting the Pineapple Express theme from Huey Lewis and the News? Actually, I would probably download most of that soundtrack for Rock Band.

#3 could be “I’ve Been Everywhere” by Johnny Cash, perhaps. Or, seeing as how we didn’t get it last week, perhaps Kokomo by the Beach Boys?

Based on what we’ve worked out so far, looks like we might have a travel theme going on here.

So…maybe “Let’s Go” by the Cars, and “Follow You, Follow Me” by Genesis?

Something to do with Back to the Future? Marty’s alarm doesn’t go off at the beginning.

Huey Lewis – Back in Time? Or even Johnny B. Goode? :v:

                      Clue #6…Genesis?!?

Some of them made me think of a few Genesis songs honestly.

As much as I’d like to see Genesis, clue #6 could also be “Tempus Fugit” by Yes.

HINT: The actual name of the band doesn’t appear in hints.

That word ain’t there for nothing though.

For hint #8, I seem to remember a story about how Sugar Ray had to record the music for “Fly” without lead singer Mark McGrath, who was furious at the band for some reason, and that they were only able to record it because he wasn’t yet at the studio the morning they did so. When he did come in, he sang it because the song was otherwise already finished. If the theme really is travel, well, the opening lyrics are “All around the world, statues crumble for me,” so it could fit. If I’m remembering the story correctly.

It is not. It’s not so much about the distance, it’s about the time.
