Do you guys think some of these ratings might be due to some sort of jealousy ? It’s just a random thought but I have seen cases of people hating something because they can’t do the same or better
I think it’s part of it for some of these bad ratings. But of course some seem to be due to artist/song hate.
January 1, 2017 at 3:24 am #479639User who 1/2-starred Stars Author Song Rocker1999 1 Freewaymad Magic Man
Never saw this thread, lol, but I’ll go ahead and give my reasoning for this 1 star
The original version was just really poorly made imo. The guitar chart was off sync and even overcharted in some places, drums was a mess with weird crossovers, and vocals was completely off, especially in the verses.
I will admit that the chart has been improved , but is still in a poor condition
(Also note there are a LOT of 1 stars just for that one custom alone)
EDIT: Removed my Stage 1 star. I was originally mad that it was only guitar. Sorry about that.
January 1, 2017 at 3:53 am #479640I have no idea why the four beard songs were 1 starred because I wasn’t even near this website that time. Probably someone got into my account so I’ll probably go change the password.
I got a good reason for Magic Man however.
As Rocker1999 said, the drum chart is very inaccurate with rolls and fills, the guitar chart is missing a trill lane with also some unforgivable mistakes in parts of the song, and the vocals hasn’t even improved since v1 of the custom which has some incorrect pitches as if it was Fat Kid all over again, horribly forced notes on guitar chart, everything else really is fine besides the vocals, guitar, and drums. Possibly keys too if I’m not mistaken but the chart really needs a good fix up.
Honestly for the beard customs I don’t know why they were one starred because I was not on at the time but I’ll get to changing my password just incase.
Apology for the beard conversion 1 stars but the Magic man one should stay at 1 star for how severely broken it is.
January 1, 2017 at 4:19 am #479641I agree with SynthStreaks’ reasoning for Magic Man, also the fact that the author denied his chart was flawed after a lot of constructive criticism. Four note chords on guitar? That’s just a “charting style.” Come on bro.
But yeah I mean why have the option to give 1-star ratings if it’s frowned upon to use them? They should be used when a chart is so poorly done that it just feels wrong the entire time. It’s unfortunate because I’m sure the charters put many hours of work into their customs (believe me I would know), but you also gotta give criticism where its due. Of course, a comment would be very helpful (and frankly should be required) to accompany any 1-star rating.
January 1, 2017 at 5:40 am #479643I think you should definitely leave a comment as to your criticism and after that if the authors ignores you or fails to make corrections than you can alert the community with a rating but to just rate and run is pointless.
January 1, 2017 at 7:16 am #479646I’m on this list three times. In my opinion, two of the three are warranted, but I’ve only kept one 1* review.
Magic Man – This chart is just all around inaccurate and breaks several charting guidelines. I tried to give the author criticism, but they brushed it off as their own “style” of charting.
Inca Roads – A more accurate chart of this song exists, so I see no reason to play this version. Granted, it’s not on C3, so I can see why the 1* could have been unwarranted. However, chartwise there is an issue; much like other Frank Zappa customs, some guitar sections are unfair to play because of excessive forced strums. I’ve changed my rating to a neutral 3* review.
Keep it Greasey – I never even played this, not sure why I gave it 1*. Sorry about that; changed now to a neutral 3* review.
January 1, 2017 at 7:30 am #479647Alright, honest question: why not just remove the 1/2 star ratings altogether? If it’s so egregious to post negative feedback that you have to publicly shame users, threaten them with suspensions, and then force them to make a case for every negative rating, then why not just ask people to send you a PM if they encounter a broken/low quality custom. With this kind of pointless persecution, I guarantee you nobody is going to bother with star ratings anymore anyways. Absolutely ridiculous.
January 1, 2017 at 7:38 am #479648mazegeek999’s suggestion seems like the easy solution here. If someone clicks 1* or 2*, just have a pop-up box which requires like 50-100 characters describing why the review is low. I mean obviously if someone has like 20 1* reviews then investigate further but if people just have a couple it’s probably warranted.
January 1, 2017 at 8:13 am #479649I’ll bump my rating of Ex-Creations up to 3 since it falls under your metric of being completely playable, but it needs a ton of polish on all instruments.

Ultimate-Guitar does this for guitar tabs nowadays and I think it’s a great idea.

I’m not sure you could possibly miss the point of all this by a wider margin.
January 1, 2017 at 11:53 am #479655But yeah I mean why have the option to give 1-star ratings if it’s frowned upon to use them?
The system is built in, we have all busy lives and just the fact that we need to change ratings by querying the DB because some people targeted some authors take up way more time than we wanted to. Also, I have genuinely no idea how anybody can read into this that “it’s frowned upon” when I opened this thread asking people to point out the proper 1/2 stars so we know which songs don’t work as they should. It’s frowned upon to arbitrarily trying to hurt another author by downvoting their songs for no good reason…
January 1, 2017 at 3:41 pm #479657Of course it’s not, we have the disc system to show people how complete a song is.
Thanks, it’s good to know this. I will actually feel better about posting non-FB stuff now.

You’re completely missing the point. Most of the 1-stars are not used in the proper way.
Voting one star because they don’t like the band, the chart isn’t full band, just being a troll, etc., is not the proper reason to vote 1/2 stars, yet that’s the reasoning for most of them.
They’re just trying to single out the people that improperly use the rating system.

I probably mentioned it somewhere else already, but I’m in the process of fixing the guitar on those customs from the Fall. Hopefully, they’ll be out in a few weeks.
EDIT: I actually mentioned it earlier in this thread, Sorry for repeating myself.
