We have noticed that lately some users have come to instantly one-star or two-star perfectly fine songs supposedly for some beef they have with the authors. Now, that is just sad and generally dishonest, and in another forum this would have probably led to suspensions or bans. However, as you probably know we don’t like to come down very hard on users so we’ve opted for a different take on this.
In this thread we will routinely post new 1 star or 2 star votes with name of the user that gave the song the low score and the song. If you have genuinely downloaded a song that is so badly put together that deserves not only a vote from you to let other users know something but a score as low as 1 or 2 stars, please comment here so we will whitelist that song. This way we will have very bad customs properly tagged. On the other hand, if you 1-star or 2-star songs with no reason, you will be first listed here with a chance to change your vote. If you don’t, you will remain on this Wall of Fame and you will be suspended for a number of days based on recidivity. And of course we will change the vote for the song, because the original authors work countless hours to give away for free amazing content and reviews of their work should be honest and truthful.
Now, we will not post the current list right now, we will post it December Tuesday 27th, so if you feel like you have been naughty and want to avoid being listed here, go back and change your vote.

Something like the following but better and more targetted to giving feedback to the authors and potential downloaders.
5 = flawless!
4 = really good but minor grief with x thing
3 = playable but not very accurate
etc
December 23, 2016 at 6:38 pm #479208Is there any way to see what you’ve rated a song, or what songs you have rated? I don’t remember specifically giving anything a low rating, but suddenly I’m paranoid that somewhere in that huge list I may have given something a 1 or 2 once.

Believe me, from the logs, whoever rates this low just clicks on series of songs based on authors or things like that, not a matter of not understanding a ratio. Plus, as I said, it’s fine to 1-star a song, actually it’s good to know a song is basically unplayable, it’s just a matter of stopping people from harming authors who provide good content. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_wink.gif”>

You can’t check. Once the list is out you can look at it and go back to change it if you want.
December 23, 2016 at 7:33 pm #479215to be honest, It will be the same..
some people rating the songs just for the band, author, etc..
to me, the best way is delete the rating system and the direct link
making the user access to the song data, links, comments, previews, whatever.
the song will have a true number about how many people are interested on the chart.

Fully get this, and if it’s simply (sounds more reductive than it’s meant to be) a way to name and shame people to stop auto one starring then that’s fine. But a guide might be useful for something as subjective as charting a song in Rock Band. I’m just a punter not an author and wouldn’t dream of marking a chart down because I didn’t like it or I didn’t feel it was fun. But I would review something highly if I played it and loved it.
I’ve mentioned this thought a couple of times over the forum in the last couple of months and so won’t beat the drum again. It’s only really come to mind because I’m giving all the tracks in my own game reviews so it’s something that’s in my thoughts at the moment. Basically it’s: song I love + really fun chart = 5, song I like or love + good / fun chart = 4. 3s are for meh but don’t really want to play that often. I don’t bother with 2s and go straight to 1s for things I don’t want to play again.
Needless to say it’s 90% 4s, 5% 5s and the rest at 3s and 1s. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” />
December 23, 2016 at 7:47 pm #479218I think the rating system is useless, and so do our users who don’t use it. Problem is, the few songs that get targeted stand out, because no vote means nobody cared enough either way, but 1 star means people cared enough to tell you it basically doesn’t work. If we ever employ a proper system, we will come up with a guide, absolutely.
December 23, 2016 at 8:02 pm #479219For fairness, I would like to request a pass on the people that dumped sh*t on some of the Zappa customs me and AJFOne did where there were problems with the guitar.
Forced strumming was abound on a number of those, and that was my fault. I’m still in the process of fixing them, hopefully they’ll be done soon.
EDIT: This started around when Society Pages Suite, or Watermelon In Easter Hay, was released and ended after Inca Roads.

Everyone will have a chance to state whatever they found, of course. But as I said, from the logs the pattern is clear…
December 23, 2016 at 8:19 pm #479221I don’t envy the job you have to do here Farottone but I appreciate that you are fair and logical with your approach to moderation.
I cannot imagine being so annoyed at seeing a particular artist/song/author that I’d then want to give them a poor rating as a form of weak punishment. I thought we were all here to help each other?

I also 1-starred a custom of “Guilty All the Same” by Linkin Park, that just seemed unplayable and inaccurate.
I don’t remember one-starring anything else, though if I did it was due to chart quality; Gary Glitter was the only time I did otherwise.
My main concern is those who are innocent, who have only one-starred a few songs, and yet will be publicly shamed if they don’t already publicly disclose what they’ve done. Some people don’t visit the forum too often, may never see this thread, and then wonder why they may be getting upset messages from authors who’s songs they one-starred, but were too shy or worried about hurt feelings to disclose why. Or maybe someone forgets they one-starred anything, until it’s too late and it goes onto the list, and now they’re getting flamed for it.
I’d say maybe disclose the names of those who seem to excessively rate things 1-star, as opposed to every single person who’s 1-star rated anything. Unless that’s already to the plan, and I misinterpreted the OP.
