So, I’ve got a song that’s almost ready to release (“Silver and Cold” by AFI), and I’m having an issue where, at a certain point, the audio and the chart just go completely out of sync(the notes come in a few seconds early). In Reaper, it all lines up perfectly, but in game, not so much. I’ve just now noticed that this point where it goes out of sync is where the time signature changes. Playing around, I can’t seem to find a solution that doesn’t have the audio and chart go out of sync in some fashion.

Is this a thing that’s known to happen? Surely there’s been songs out there that change between the two signatures without there being a delay. If so, is there something I’m probably missing or am doing wrong that’s causing this to be an issue. Honestly, I’m not really sure what to do to fix this and any help would be appreciated.

Edit – I don’t know why it took me this long to think of it, but I had a hunch and imported both the midi I exported from Reaper and the audio filed I rendered from Reaper. Neither of them line up when I import them into a new file.

Second edit – It looks like my tempo markers aren’t exporting properly. In my exported midi, they’re all there, but they start earlier than they’re placed in my Reaper file. Anyone have any idea why this would be?

I’ve commented about this issue before but I can’t find it and I’m on my phone.

Zoom in at the point where the chart goes off sync and see if there isn’t a problem with that measure.

Basically what happens is a measure is broken and it lasts a full bar instead of cutting at x.3.00 or whatever.

It looks like this when you zoom in:

You’d have to delete that marker and re-do the tempo map from there and make sure the previous measure isn’t chewed up by the next one.

Make sure to check “Embed Tempo Map” in Reaper when exporting the MIDI file!

Yep, this was it. Luckily it was only two markers causing this, so it’s a quick fix.

            Thanks!!
