Hello everyone!

Can someone explain to me or send me a video tutorial how do you make proper tempo map (beats track) for the song you are creating, so your charts for an instrument fits perfect along those bars in preview? I’ve created couple of songs, and they are perfectly synced with music, but the “bars” are not synced along with the notes that I’m playing.

And the other question is if I can fix tempo map (beats) without messing up my whole charted instrument?

I’ve watched some tutorials on youtube, and they explained something to press “q” on beats but I have no idea what I’m doing, cause when I press it, my whole chart mess up!

    Thanks

That’s the video posted up here right now. I’ve been planning on making a very detailed video into all workings of a tempo map, but I keep pushing it off.

Okey, I’ve managed to make correct tempo map for the song, now the charts I made for example guitar is all out of sync, so is there an easy way to correct the chart I made or I have to make it all over?

All over. If I understand correctly, the original chart had no tempo map and the notes were placed with no reference to the grid, which means you’re better off either starting from scratch or snapping them all to grid and try to salvage what you can.

Unless your song is really close to 120, 60, or 240 BPM, then you are probably going to have a terrible time aligning to grid and trying to fix.

I personally would rechart a new track. Use the old one for reference, you just need to put the new one on the grid.

Thank you all for your help. I’ve moved the charts I made one by one to align to the grid on new tempo map.

It wasn’t that hard.. took me about 1-2 hours to align everything but at least now it all looks good.

Good to hear. I’m assuming you now know this… but it’s VERY good practice to get your tempo map done first thing. Do it, check it, and then double check it.

You can BS some fudging down the road if your map isn’t too bad, but big issues can cause a full rechart to be needed. That’s not fun ha.

Also, Drum/Guitar/Bass/Keys can usually be salvaged pretty decently (due to how the grid works), but vocals can sometimes get badly out of sync if any tempo remapping is done after they are charted. Be careful for that as well.

yeah! Thanks a lot btw how can I put those red lines like fill in notes on red line? It looks like drum fill but it only goes on one line for example red or green….where you have fast drum hits?

      #434646

Are you talking about drum rolls?

If so, then the note is up at the top of the template. You’ll see Roll Marker 1-lane and Roll Marker 2-Lane / Cym

It’s known that the 2-lane marker can be really buggy, and should be used ONLY for two cymbal swells (and even then, if you can get away with charting notes just do that).

The 1 lane works fine (well, as fine as it seems to). To use that, make sure you only have notes in one color during it’s duration (that includes kick pedal IIRC). Make the note start directly with the first note of the roll/swell, and then have it end before the last note (last note should not be covered).

      #434650

yeah I guess.. I saw those just in few songs where you just need to hit red or sometimes green constantlly.

      Thanks I’ll try it

Okey, sorry if I’m annoying with all of my questions, but I’m having another problem…. After I’ve fixed tempo map and moved all of my charts correctly on the grid, and in RBN preview window it all looks good and synced, when I tested the song inside the game, I’m having like double grids showing up on the screen. Do you know what could be the problem?

Post a link to the .rpp, I’ll take a look and see if it’s a charting issue or if not then probably a Magma issue with something.

here you go. And thanks again for helping me out.

Some things I can see off the bat (not 100% sure if they would be causing your issue, but they should probably be looked at to be sure):

      – Your BEAT track is not synced on the grid. Unless it was meant to be that way (I cannot tell without the audio file)

      – The BASS track does not start a 1:1:00. That means the pass part will be out of sync when playing.

      – Common issue with many people: You should not start the song on the default 120 bpm, and then transition into the song. Your count-in during this will be playing something that is not representative of the actual tempo. Next time, try and find the “general bpm” of the song (in this case, it seems to be around 83-85) and start the initial tempo there. That way, the count-in should represent the first actual measure correctly.

One issue might be when you are exporting the midi for Magma. When exporting, make sure that “Embedded Tempo Map” is enabled and checked. Also, make sure your audio starts and is spaced correctly when adding to the Magma backing track section.
