Hi all, just a quick post to ask for suggestions for customs or official DLC with really fun bass parts. Clearly this is subjective but for me I play bass pretty much exclusively and wondered if there was anything out there people might recommend.
I’m not necessarily saying that they need to be really hard or really easy just interesting and fun to play. I’m not talking pro bass either sadly but if people want to suggest them for other readers go right ahead. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” />
November 11, 2015 at 9:36 am #459106Booker T and the MGs- Green Onions. Definitely not hard and not even that varied for the bass, but what a great 3-minute groove to get into while the other players do their thing.
November 11, 2015 at 10:58 am #459108Everything ever by Rush, Wynona’s big brown beaver by Primus, Push th’ little daisies has a fun part, Jane’s Addiction tracks,
November 11, 2015 at 11:04 am #459109I may be a little biased but Let’s Spend The Night Together by the Rolling Stones has a great bass line ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” />
November 11, 2015 at 12:40 pm #459110I’m going to be biased too – You Get What You Give by New Radicals has a great bassline, really varied and fairly challenging ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” />
Another one of mine, Look At Me (When I Rock Wichoo) by Black Kids, has a great bassline too. Those two are easily the most fun I’ve charted for bass ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” />
November 11, 2015 at 7:13 pm #459143Thanks for the suggestions so far. Some stuff I know, some I don’t so I’ll give these a go. More suggestions please!
Three that I love playing are ‘Englishman In New York’ by Sting, ‘Don’t Dream It’s Over’ by Crowded House and ‘Drive Home’ by Steven Wilson. There are more too. Loads of REM ones are wonderful.

Genesis – early stuff

Duck Dunn was a great bass player.

Amen. I would love to see the Blues Brothers OST make into RB one day. Some kind soul did their version of ‘Rawhide’ which is wonderful.
Any particular Genesis, Rush and Chicago tracks people? There’s quite the selection out there!

Well as far as Chicago you won’t find a boring bass track for until their 14th album and I released a good majority from the first 3 albums so you can’t go wrong with any of them. As far as Genesis I would suggest any track from 1971’s Nursery Cryme until 1976’s Wind and Wuthering. Particulary Cinema Show, Battle of Epping Forrest from Selling England by the Pound.
November 11, 2015 at 10:46 pm #459159Right, I’ve grabbed most things people have mentioned in here so far and will give them a go before too long. I’ll try and do a bit of research into the Chicago, Genesis and Rush.
Oh, and I watched the video of the chart for the Primus track mentioned above. Hahaha. Wow. I think I need to up my game a bit before attempting that one.
November 12, 2015 at 12:00 am #459160Some Sade, Duran Duran, Culture Club and Spandau Ballet tracks have very cool riffs, plus of course Don’t Look Any Further.
November 12, 2015 at 1:11 am #459161Rush HMX dlc, Limelight, YYZ, The Camera Eye, 2112, Fly by Night.
Customs, Freewill, La Villa Strangiato, By-Tor and the Snow Dog, Lakeside Park.
November 12, 2015 at 1:31 am #459162May I suggest You Should Be Dancing by Bee Gees which has the distinction of being the first Harmonix released song to have a charted bass solo at the time
November 12, 2015 at 12:07 pm #459172Perhaps some day….The Who’s “The Real Me”.
