Yesterday it hit me that we were missing some Styx! Come Sail Away and the Grand Illusion would both be great to have in Rock Band one day

June 28, 2014 at 3:31 am #423580Would be great to get Boat on the RiverDon’t get me wrong – I love that song, but it really isn’t Rock Band material. “Crystal Ball” would be perfect, though!
August 3, 2015 at 8:31 pm #451984I’m shocked that there’s no Styx on this website and only a couple dlc’s on Rock Band. Shocked. I’ve been looking; thought about posting a new thread but found this one. Anyone know of any we might have missed?

August 4, 2015 at 1:35 pm #452046Don’t get me wrong – I love [“Boat on the River”], but it really isn’t Rock Band material. “Crystal Ball” would be perfect, though!I’d say “Boat on the River” is as much Rock Band material as “Landslide” or “Good Riddance”.
I have a MIDI of the song with a decent-enough vocal track and a very faithful accordion track (sequenced it myself), but the guitar takes a lot of liberties so that part would need some work. I’ll have to think about it. I’ve already got a lot on my customs agenda, though, and precious little time to do anything with it.
December 11, 2015 at 12:17 am #460595Since the beginning of RockBand I’ve been patiently waiting for what I consider to be the best Styx song…. Suite Madam Blue
I hope one of you great authors loves Rock and Roll enough to work on this one! It’s such a great mix of amazing fun to sing vocals, powerful guitar, great drumming, and goosebumpy changeovers. To say the least, I’d be eternally grateful and I know if you haven’t heard it before you’re going to appreciate it.
Thanks in advance

December 15, 2015 at 11:31 pm #460802Thanks AJF! Man, that sounds like 1973…love it. So different than Suite Madam Blue (from 1975), which I’d never guess was as old as it is, being so timeless in my mind at least. I could never figure out why Suite Madam Blue didn’t get the attention it deserved…as far as I’m concerned it’s about as classic as most Led Zeppelin stuff, and yet it still seems like most that I’ve raved to haven’t heard it, but then quickly feel the same about it as I do, once they do.
Here’s how it sounds if anyone is curious. It gets more and more powerful as it goes…
December 16, 2015 at 12:20 am #460803Manbeek, I’ll do you one better. Not only do I love “Suite Madame Blue”, I think that to truly do the song justice, “Prelude #12” has to be included.
December 18, 2015 at 12:15 am #460887Wow, I’d totally forgotten about that instrumental!!! Including that as a real prelude would be the best since it really gets the juices going before getting into it. Thanks for the reminder FujiSkunk!
