Has anyone ever challenged themselves to do the dumbest shit while playing Rock Band or really any other rhythm game? I’m talking stuff like playing multiple instruments at once, or playing TTFAF on a Rock Band 1 guitar, or playing drums one-handed. I’ve made a hobby out of doing this kinda stuff recently.
Here’s one where I FCed Need You Tonight on Bass and Keys – normally no big deal, but I played both of them at the same time –
I’m interested in hearing if anybody else does this stuff for their own amusement (and maybe also so I can try and do it myself ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_emot-3.gif” />)
May 24, 2015 at 3:38 am #446192Back during the RB1 era I remember randomly challenging myself to get gold stars on Maps with the yellow (video) cable of the composite cables unplugged since I had the chart almost perfectly memorized
Was pretty fun to actually get it ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_cheeky.001.gif” />
May 24, 2015 at 8:41 am #446210I’ve been playing instruments with vox at the same time since I first started playing Rock Band – it’s not too tricky if it’s a song you know well ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” />
On games that have a Beginner difficulty, I’ve tried playing guitar, singing and playing the kick pedal all at the same time, with varying degrees of success ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” />
I love the bass/keys idea for Need You Tonight, might try that one.
May 24, 2015 at 12:16 pm #446216I used to do lots of stupid stuff, kinda like that, like strumming only using the palm the entire song, lifting up fingers from each fret every time after I’d play a note, and there was the time where I passed Whiplash on expert guitar, on Guitar Hero Metallica with the TV and sound off.
I thought about taking requests and recording particularly stupid stuff like that, but never did. Now with twitch streams and the like, it sounds like an interesting idea.
May 24, 2015 at 12:43 pm #446217A couple years ago, on GH6, I’d go full Phil Collins and sing and play drums. I’d also go on GH:Jam, hook my RB drums and guitars, and be a one man band.
As for RB, I once tried to pass “Visions”, blindfolded. Yeah, didn’t end well.

I’m in awe of you, honestly.
I’m thinking that my next challenge (which I’m only doing once I graduate and I have a week or two of time to spare) is what I like to dub “The ENDLESS Endless Setlist” – which is playing every single song I own for Rock Band (deciding to restrict it only to official content, just to go easy on myself, which brings the total to about 700 songs) in one giant, monstrous playlist. I’m still a little bit unsure of what instrument I should go for it on, but I might do Drums just to torture myself a bit. (not that I’m bad or anything, but we’re talking maybe 3 or 4 full days of *just playing drums*)
I also might stream it, if anybody is interested in watching it.
May 24, 2015 at 11:55 pm #446273I’d definitely tune in for some of that. I just had a RB party going through half the career that went all night – and we only managed to get through 110 songs, so 700 would be pretty ridic.
May 25, 2015 at 2:35 am #446279Doing 700 songs in a row is all-weekend-long tag-team charity fundraiser levels of insane.
Good luck ^^
May 26, 2015 at 8:02 pm #446400Playing lefty flip on drums is pretty fun!
May 26, 2015 at 10:20 pm #446414Playing lefty flip on drums is pretty fun!I used to do that on easy songs to build stamina on my left arm and improve coordination.
May 27, 2015 at 3:51 pm #446473I would play lefty flip on Foreplay/Long Time because I couldn’t get past the intro on regular mode!

Just lettin y’all know that I’m still working on this! I’m definitely going to stream it, but I’m still working out the logistics of streaming it and also just playing 703 songs all at once at all. I’m thinking about splitting it up into playlists for each day, to keep things relatively organized. I’ll also make sure to bug friends of mine to play with me for a while on certain days, too, to keep things interesting.
June 16, 2015 at 6:39 am #448200I remember one time my friend and I tried two two-man FBFC So What’cha Want. I got a few guitar/bass FCs but he just couldn’t drumvox well enough because he insisted on doing it right. We never got it.
June 16, 2015 at 1:23 pm #448229My son could play Devil Went Down To Georgia on GH on expert with his eyes closed. I’m not sure if he could still do it. haha
June 17, 2015 at 5:06 am #448308I FC’d Rock Lobster only using downstrums. Needless to say, my wrist hurt for a while after that.
