This may be a very convoluted question, but exactly why is there STILL no AC/DC as DLC? I understand that they had a live track pack, but lets be honest, the live stuff was not that great compared to the studio recordings (thank you to those whove made AC/DC customs). Its just baffling that a huge name band like AC/DC hasnt had anything since that live track pack & Rock Band 2.

AC/DC is not big on releasing things outside of their production. They were one of the final hold outs to even let their stuff be available on iTunes. I don’t know the exact reason, but I would be completely surprised if we ever see any to be honest.

AC/DC are stingy in regards to releasing singles, and I’m guessing even if they did give out tracks to Harmonix, the latter’s budget wouldn’t allow it.

This more-or-less explains why. The Live track pack was only one album (Live at Donington) because as Skylab said, they really dislike allowing the sale of singles for some reason. They also make really odd exclusivity deals and whatnot. I dunno, these guys are weird.

This. Some bands mostly decide to limit their general availability of their music to traditional media. In fact AC/DC and for example also Led Zeppelin have been unavailable on streaming platforms such as Spotify for many years, before eventually giving up. To me it’s surprising already that they did agree with Harmonix to make a whole RB expansion with their songs, albeit their live versions.

Theres been Green Day, we just got Father of All… & before that we got Still Breathing. Beatles however we had a whole game full but I can understand that point since well there were tons of singles & hits omitted from the game for whatever reason.

Beatles was an exception. I honestly have absolutely no idea how HMX managed to get anything from The Beatles, let alone enough for a full game and DLC as they never license their music out to anyone (or if they do it’s for big, big $$$).

But it happened with the caveat of a ton of limitations, including all songs and DLC being available only for TBRB.

There are some bands that don’t have any studio versions in-game (ZZ Top, AC/DC), some that don’t allow their songs on anything other than their own special game (The Beatles), and some that straight up don’t license their songs apparently (Led Zeppelin). Licensing is dumb and messy and some bands are difficult to work with, that’s just how it is unfortunately. Took until RB4 to get U2 but it happened so who knows what’s possible in the future…

There’s always exceptions. Notice that one didn’t export?

Their masters most definitely don’t exist anymore, it’s why Gimme All Your Lovin’ was a cover version on World Tour. That wouldn’t be a problem these days, but I’m guessing their tracks are quite pricey.
