Just passing by to say thanks. I guess timing is everything in life; because I just found out about Porcupine Tree and I’m floored by them, can’t stop listening – on top of that I just started digging for good customs beyond C3 songs list and I find this thread. Talk about luck.
I can’t wait for Fear of a Blank Planet, I’m having so much fun with your charts !
Thank you thank you thank you again.
March 11, 2015 at 11:57 pm #440437Cool to see people enjoying “In Absentia”. I should have “Fear of a Blank Planet” ready by this weekend. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_wink.gif” />

Oh, if you’re new to PT and you haven’t really been exposed to stuff from a particular album of there’s, the PT releases coming include material from every album of theirs except for “Up The Downstair” (which, after listening to it, I should go correct “Synesthesia” or “Burning Sky,” anyone?) and “The Sky Moves Sideways.” (the titular epic was planned, but after completing Drums/Vocals and partially charting Keys/Guitar, the 34-minute beast seemed like a daunting obstacle. I am willing to finish this one with help in the future) It does speak volumes that I missed some notable songs. “Hatesong,” “Synesthesia,” “Buying New Soul,” “Burning Sky,” and “The Sky Moves Sideways,” all get at me. If I were to do a second pack of assorted PT singles, all of those would be in it. But after doing 35 songs from this band, I’m doing other stuff for a while.
As for progress, I’m just about done synching “Devil’s Sweet” by Chicago. This was hell to synch. And listening to the onslaught of ghost rolls, this will be near-Guantanamo levels of torture to chart.

That is more than understandable, Im impressed by how much was done TBH, I couldn’t find much looking through youtube (never took the time to find good custom sources until now) and my jaw dropped when I saw everything that was readily available ahahah

I keep listening to it over and over again. I can’t wait to convert it and give it a test drive

I started charting it. The first minute = ghost notes galore. It will be done by the end of the week unless if I were to be hospitalized for something unexpected (which would be unfortunate for obvious reasons). I would not be expecting that off-chance. I’m as healthy as a horse.
March 12, 2015 at 7:05 am #440453I just wanted to post a big thank you for putting together a full porcupine tree album. My playgroup is a group of nerds and we love our prog. This is a huge gift for us, and I just want you to know it kicks butt.

And I remember that username WAAAAAYYYY back in the days of Scorehero back when WOR first came out.
March 12, 2015 at 1:18 pm #440464Holy fucking hell I tried playing through the album on drums tonight because wow it’s a great full album, but Jeeeeesus, The Creator Has A Mastertape destroyed me! What a great track, but I’m never going to pass it.
March 12, 2015 at 5:40 pm #440478Holy fucking hell I tried playing through the album on drums tonight because wow it’s a great full album, but Jeeeeesus, The Creator Has A Mastertape destroyed me! What a great track, but I’m never going to pass it.Yeah. That drum track is pretty hard. Although “Anesthetize” and “Way Out Of Here” are both about as hard, if not harder.
EDIT: I’m on a bit of a vacation doing errands with my dad. So I won’t be charting as much today. I’ve also gotten addicted to binge-watching Mad Men on order to catch up with it before the final episodes start April 5th. Started up Season 5 (out of 7) last night.
Anyways, I’m going to finish up “Devil’s Sweet” by Chicago on Drums and send that to AJFOne (I’ll let him do the rest on that). Last charting session I had, I have the first four minutes charted. After that, my attention will be scattered between three goals: The Protomen’s “Act II: The Father of Death,” a pack of Dream Theater songs that I’m expanding/correcting from FoF charts (not giving hints on what songs are in the pack), and the Steven Wilson solo pack (6 songs).
The Steven Wilson Pack will include these six songs:
* Luminol (from The Raven That Refused To Sing (And Other Stories) (2013))
* Drive Home (from The Raven That Refused To Sing (And Other Stories) (2013))
* The Raven That Refused To Sing (from The Raven That Refused To Sing (And Other Stories) (2013))
* First Regret/Three Years Older (from Hand. Cannot. Erase. (2015))
* Home Invasion/Regret #9 (from Hand. Cannot. Erase. (2015))
* Happy Returns (from Hand. Cannot. Erase. (2015))
March 14, 2015 at 7:54 am #440609That Steven Wilson solo pack is going to be outstanding. Everybody will need to stretch before hand.
March 14, 2015 at 7:31 pm #440643That Steven Wilson solo pack is going to be outstanding. Everybody will need to stretch before hand.IKR? After re-listening to many of these songs for tiers, I’ve come to the conclusion that all but two (“The Raven That Refused To Sing” and “Happy Returns”) of the SW songs will have at least one devil tier. “Drive Home” will have a devil-tiered guitar chart (because of the epic Guthrie Govan solo at the end) as it’s only devil-tiered chart. “First Regret/Three Years Older” and “Home Invasion/Regret #9” will have at least two devil-tiered charts. And “Luminol” will be devils on everything except guitar (which is a 5) and vocals (which will probably be a 3).
I’m just about done charting “Devil’s Sweet” by Chicago on drums for AJFOne, so after that, I have three projects to do. The SW solo pack is just one of them.
I’m going back on what I said about not revealing what I’ll do with the Dream Theater pack. Because I’m actually doing two smaller packs (instead of one bigger one). The first smaller pack will have all 5 songs that make up the “Twelve-Step Suite,” but in full-band form. Mostly because I am not sure if I’d be able to fit all the parts into the full 55 minute song. However, if anyone wants to when I’m done with this, they are welcome to try.
The other DT pack will include the following songs:
* Dream Theater – A Change Of Seasons (extensively reworking a G/B/D custom by JackeShan I found of this on the FoF forums)
* Dream Theater – Illumination Theory (expanding a Guitar chart I found on the FoF forums)
* Dream Theater – Lines In The Sand (guitar chart by Puppetz, same situation as ANtR)
* Dream Theater – Never Enough (drum chart part of DP6)
* Dream Theater – Stream of Consciousness (G/D charts by Puppetz, same situation as LitS/ANtR)
* Dream Theater – The Best Of Times (guitar chart from FoF forums)
* Dream Theater – The Count of Tuscany (guitar chart by JackeShan from FoF forums)
* Dream Theater – Trial of Tears (guitar chart by GLDF from FoF forums)
* Dream Theater – Yste Jam (guitar chart by Puppetz from FoF forums)
Despite these charts being from the FoF forums, I’m working hard towards correcting any tempo/time signature difficulties. I want to make these easy converts for Sideshow for whenever I send these to him. These charts are a while off, though. And if C3 were to release any of these officially (although if they do release another DT album, my money’s on “Awake”), I will remove the released song from the pack.
The third project I’m working on is The Protomen’s “Act II: The Father Of Death,” which I’m currently doing what I do when I first start charting full albums: chart the drums and the vocals on EVERY song first. Those two (on average) tend to be the most time-consuming parts for me to chart. And the vocals on this album tend to be more time-consuming than the drums. It doesn’t help that one track (“The Good Doctor”) on here is a duet and I’m making two versions of the same chart (each having one of the two vocal parts charted) so that Sideshow can paste the other into the harmony track when he converts it (because EOF doesn’t allow me to chart harmonies). It also doesn’t help that this album is a rock opera that has a couple tracks (“The Good Doctor,” “Father Of Death,” “Light Up The Night,” “Here Comes The Arm.”) where the vocalist has one verse delivered by one character and the next verse delivered by another. And there is another track (“The Fall”) that I originally thought had no lyrics because it’s sung by a choir of voices so thick that I could not make out the words until I re-listened to the album about a month ago. Long story short, this is an album that I REALLY wish I had the capability of charting harmonies in EOF for. Even more so than “In Absentia.”

A finger on the switch
My mother is a bitch
My father gave up ever trying to talk to me”

March 15, 2015 at 7:49 am #440688Here is the promised ninth studio album from the English prog band Porcupine Tree. Gavin Harrison’s drumming on this album is at his best. I wanna give a shoutout to PikminGuts92 for helping me with the Pro Guitar chart for “Anesthetize”. Alex Lifeson from Rush does a guest appearance on this song. Lifeson’s solo goes up to fret 25 which pro guitar players should know isn’t possible with the Mustang nor the Squire. I had to change the solo down an octave so it would translate more appropriately for the 17 and 22 Fret guitars for RB3. If your only going to download one song from Porcupine Tree, get Anesthetize because it is one hell of an epic song. Charting credentials go to Meander while CourtOfAPorcupine charted 5 button guitar and drums on “Fear of a Blank Planet” and “Anesthetize”. I did the usual compiling with overdrive and drum fill activation placements. I wanted to mention that “Sentimental” gave me the same tempo marker problem as “Trains” which means the first measure of keys is fucked up on the song. I’m not going to fix these songs right away because its too time consuming for me to care. Anyhow, enjoy this killer album! Also, if people want to play “In Absentia” with lower difficulties, TheOreo made some EMH CAT reductions which I will provide on the original post for the album.

That is it for Porcupine Tree this month. I’m shifting priorities to RBN1.0 songs and also a secret album of which I should have ready by the end of the month. Next month I will finish off the Porcupine Tree “Deadwing” album plus singles. There is always something to work on so more content on the way!
