Glad all of you dig these punk bands because if there was more of them already phaseshifted I would be converting them.
Time for yet another update to Dream Theater “12 Step Suite”. Divine Smoof took the time to fix the spacing issues on several sections on guitar and practice sections are now added! I suppose if anybody wants to try to chart vocals, bass, or do reductions then we can try to bypass the 1MB midi limit in Magma and make this puppy even more beefy. The collaboration effort on this epic custom has been outstanding. Thank you!

September 23, 2014 at 11:38 am #429743Nice! I loved the brief ska revival of the late 90s. I will check out all of those (that have drums), but already know I’ll dig Unwritten Law, MF&tGGs, and the Aquabats(!!). Still surprised it took so long to get some, so thanks! I don’t actually know those tracks, but as you say, if it is all that’s out there.Oops, I just noticed no drums on Unwritten Law. Oh well.
I was considering adding drums to the Pennywise and Unwritten Law songs. These are bands that I really like and I do have some more well know songs from them to do unfortunately they would require a ton of work to re tempo map and get the charts to sync up. I might add drums to “Knocked Down” and “Seein Red” eventually.
Seein Red would be great full band!!!

This has been possible for a very long time. Just requires getting your hands dirty so to speak. I mentioned it briefly on the tutorial video and I know it has been discussed before.
I might do an in depth tutorial if it’ll be useful.
September 24, 2014 at 1:20 am #429776September 24, 2014 at 7:54 pm #429813I really appreciate all the work that’s been done on Twelve Step Suite so far. I played through it on guitar (though not the most recent fixed-triplet version, yet) and drums (1x), and wanted to mention a few things:
– The triplet problem is definitely an issue throughout the drum chart as well. The engine is generally forgiving enough to hold combo if the sections are played as triplets, but the uneven triplets in the chart make it hard to tell when this is the case.
– There is a part in This Dying Soul (maybe it was the second verse/fast talkie section?) where the audio seemed to skip. I’m pretty familiar with the song, and it jumped out at me as problematic when I heard it on both instruments. The chart doesn’t get out of sync, but rather, stays on beat with the skipping audio, if that makes sense.
– There is a 2-cymbal swell near the end (probably was in The Shattered Fortress) that seems like it should have roll lanes. All other similar swells in the song do, so maybe this was just missed.
– The green toms at the very end of the song seemed wrong somehow, and might warrant a second look. Not sure if it’s the triplet problem or a legit mischart.
Overall, the charts (especially the drums) were very fun to play, without being insanely hard/fast (this is, of course, subjective). Looking forward to giving guitar another try with the fixed triplets/etc. I’d love to play this with a full band and break the 10 million point ceiling, which hasn’t ever been done, at least to my knowledge (Rime of the Ancient Mariner yielded 8.9 mil on an all-pro near FC run; maybe someone’s done more with a crazy custom).
September 25, 2014 at 12:06 am #429828I am well aware of the 2 cymbal swell near the end and the reason the roll lanes are not there is because Magma gave me a sissy fit when putting the lanes in there so I left them out.
I will address the other issues when the custom gets updated again. If anybody charts another instrument or does reductions then I’ll update but until then I’m putting this custom to rest for the moment.
While I”m at it I thought I’d give a sneak peek for this weekends update. Thought I’d throw a preview of this song up here now in case its not allowed to be shared. I know I’m not the only one who feels “Breaking the Law” that has been released officially as a live version just sounds awful compared to the studio version so I was going to share the studio version. Just let me know if its not allowed otherwise its being uploaded this weekend.
September 25, 2014 at 5:23 am #429857I don’t see why that would be a problem. C3 released Aerosmith’s original Dream On even though Harmonix released a live version.
September 25, 2014 at 5:39 am #429858Also funkydunkleman has released a couple of the studio versions of the AC/DC live songs in his thread and he hasn’t gotten any shit about it.
September 25, 2014 at 10:11 am #429862We’ve already clarified in the past, but happy to do it again, that studio versions of live DLC releases are fine. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif”> And it goes both ways: live versions of official DLC releases. We don’t want to let people download for free songs available for sale, but live versions are fine.
September 25, 2014 at 11:34 am #429863I’ve been waiting for the studio version of Breaking the Law forever! Thank you! ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” />
Now, just need the studio version of Living After Midnight…. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_wink.gif” />
September 26, 2014 at 12:12 am #429900Having the studio version of breaking the law would be great. I don’t even mind live versions on principle, but that one was just unworkable. It was like listening to a song by Concert Crowd {featuring Rob Halford}
September 26, 2014 at 12:51 am #429901Glad everybody feels the same way. Its not like Harmonix put out bad live versions of songs all the time but for the anniversary of British Steel, it was bad. I’ll have a bunch of singles from various different artists up this weekend. Then the next weekend will probably be the last weekend for a little while of converts as I have found most of the material that caught my eye for wanting in the game. Of course there is a ton of phaseshift and FOF songs yet to do but I really need a break.
September 29, 2014 at 4:33 am #430137Today I bring you 10 songs from 10 different artist. But first I wanna put up a quick little update to “1000 Times Fuckeder. I didn’t like how I positioned the overdrive near the end so I just switched things up a bit. No biggie but it is what it is. I also finally recorded a video for it! ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_biggrin.gif” />

I’m certain there is not a custom of this song available so I went ahead and converted NarutoStarWars123456 phaseshift charts. There were no pro drums so I added those markers. There is also a few more Pearl Jam songs in the drum projects over at frets on fire so I may do them in the future.

I was very very happy to see this in the drum project section over at FOF. This song is really damn good. The solo sounds fucking amazing. I gave the drums a devil tier purely because the BRE is charted. Green Jello, I mean Green Jelly rocks! Charted by Doomtron and Pro Drum markers added by me.

There was actually several Yankovic songs that I found but this was the only one with a tempo map. Still fun to play on guitar. You can see how much I suck at hopo’s in my preview video. Charted by Comfort Eagle and converted by me.

One of the great bands I discovered through the RBN. I found this puppy in the drum project section of FOF. The sucky thing is that the second half of the song had tempo map markers of 500BPM all over this bitch. I was about to quit doing this song but pulled through and made the chart sync as best as I could.(For the few hours I put into it). Charted by Breadache and converted by me.

A great song from the 90’s. We all know the amazing cover of “Cats in the Cradle” but here is one of their best original songs. Charted by Angevil and converted by me.

I actually saw this group live a few days ago and they were just as strange as I was expecting live. I got a bit inspired and went ahead and charted a drums custom. I’ll probably make this one full band eventually but for now its a drummsie.

Found a few FOF’s from MSI but this one was the only one with a tempo map. Good song from a great group. Not sure who charted this but I do know that I converted it.

I didnt get into this band until the 3 pack came out for DLC and I was immediately hooked. Especially great on vocals. Here is a drums only custom of a rockin song. There are more songs to convert by HIM and maybe I’ll tackle them in the future. Charted by FbS-13 and converted by me.

September 29, 2014 at 4:49 am #430138Pearl Jam, Judas Priest, and Queen for me, at the least!
More Pearl jam would be great to have! Thanks a ton for doing these.
You mentioned more H.I.M. – do you know if there is one for their song “Join Me,” out there?
