Hey everyone.
If you have not seen… ejthedj, Oscarj08, and myself have finished up the remaining songs off of Rush’s album, Clockwork Angels. Currently, we wish for people to play through the song and provide feedback on aspects that can be fixed/upgraded/tweaked. I have created this topic to keep all of the updating aspects in one place. This way, we can get information, fix up the charts, and then make a final release with everything. Also, I will be creating Full Album Medley’s for each instruments, and due to the nature of that, I would like to have every chart as perfect as possible first (to avoid having to fix things twice).
The downloads can be found in ejthedj’s topic, posted in the Other Customs Discussion forum:
~ Rush Clockwork Angels: Full Instruments and EMH Reductions ~
Please provide ANY feedback here. I will keep a list of the update we will be and will have made here, so people can track what has been fixed already.

August 21, 2014 at 12:54 am #427492I just played the full Clockwork Angels album on 2X Pro Drums the other night and for the most part the charts feel great. The biggest complaint I have is that there are way too many band unison sections which makes it very easy to gold the star the songs.
The only song that really bothered me is “The Anarchist”. You already know that the drum fill markers are offbeat but my pet peave is the charting of the tribal tom sections mainly found in the intro of the song. I just feel that those toms don’t flow well and you will see in the video that I made of me getting my ass handed down to me on those sections.
Halo Effect didn’t have any overdrive charted so it was impossible to gold star.
Wanted to give a pat on the back for the “Carnies” chart. The heavy tom section is really fun to play. This is probably my favorite song on the album next to Clockwork Angels. I’ll have my entire album run uploaded here soon.
August 21, 2014 at 2:27 am #427502Caravan is missing drum animations it seems, also at least in the final chorus there is pitch slides downward on “big” when he sings “I can’t stop thinking big” which should be charted whenever they occur. It also appears the vocalist is always set to the [play] state which looks kinda odd during the instrumental parts, so I would recommend adding manual play and idle markers for vocals.
Be sure to check for missing vocal slides in other songs as well, due to Geddy’s singing style he seems to do it a lot from time to time, especially on this album and I noticed several slides are not charted on BU2B for example
August 21, 2014 at 12:17 pm #427511Thank you both for the input!
Slideshow:
– The Unisons can be toned down. I’ll let ejthedj know about those.
– In reference to The Anarchist; this was something I took days of tweaking to get somewhat right. That’s section was very difficult. In truth, Peart plays that section using only two toms. However, he is able to fluxuate the volume on them. I could have only charted it on two tom, but it felt really awkward as he clearly is hitting on at a higher volume/pitch, and the chart looks awkward with just that. The other hard part is that, yes, he plays the main tom beats with the left hand, which is why it plays so weird. Without a drum tab anywhere, I had to rely on cover videos and ear. Sadly, while it is difficult, I can play it fairly well, so I assumed it would work. If you have any idea for charting it I can lend you the .rpp?
– Halo Effect I did not notice oops ha
– Agreed for Carnies. When I played through these a few weeks ago, I realized how fun I found that chart as well and I did not expect that.
Nightmare Lyra:
– I can look into the drums… maybe I forgot the [play] again.
– I’ll talk to ejthedj about the slides and animations as well
August 21, 2014 at 12:46 pm #427513Also, thank you very much for these. Once the album was completely finished, I was going to make a post and ask someone with video capture if they could do the songs and upload them to youtube or something so I could reference them for people. Would you mind doing one per song once it’s finished? I’ll also have the Medley done at the end too which you can use for the full album video (same as the one you did).
August 24, 2014 at 9:16 pm #427850I got to play the drums today, and it seemed like The Anarchist and Wish Them Well were ever so slightly out of sync, had a big problem keeping a combo even on the easier parts
August 26, 2014 at 3:12 pm #427975I got to play the drums today, and it seemed like The Anarchist and Wish Them Well were ever so slightly out of sync, had a big problem keeping a combo even on the easier partsOh god I hope not ha.
I’ll look into these and see. I personally did not think they were out of sync, but it could just be my timing. Wish Them Well I can live with re-doing, but I really don’t want to re-tempo map The Anarchist again ugh haha.
September 5, 2014 at 1:23 pm #428599We are nearing the end of the correction phase. My side of the updates are finished, and we can soon merge our work and get the final submissions posted. If anyone else would like to test out the songs please feel free; there can never be too much improvement.
Thank you to those who have tested so far! This was my first real big project, and my skills improved throughout. Thus, there was a lot of backtracking to fix previous mistakes and such.
September 6, 2014 at 1:26 am #428649Curious to see if you changed the drum chart on The Anarchist.
September 6, 2014 at 6:08 pm #428695Curious to see if you changed the drum chart on The Anarchist.I didn’t. In all honestly, this is something I’d need another opinion on. Here are the options I could consider:
If you think something else could be better, please send me a PM and I’ll lend out the chart to be tweaked. I have no problem either way.
The chart I have is something that took me a week of coming back to randomly and trying new things. It’s really just two toms with some flams, paradiddles, and different hit strengths thrown in, which can make it hard to translate into Rock Band. I was able to play mine find (I have some decent bounce pads and have been drumming for 8 years, so I did not think much of the difficulty. Let me know what you think!
*Edit*
I realize you cannot read the captions under the options.
Option #1 = Charted as it is now
Option #2 = Remove the paradiddles so it’s an easier chart
Option #3 = Chart it on 2 toms instead of 3 (closer to the true chart, but sounds wrong due to the loud tom hits)
Option #4 = Remove paradiddles + chart on 2 toms
Note: The 2 tom options can be either Y+B, Y+G, or G+B.
September 7, 2014 at 9:03 am #428723I’d like to playtest the updated CON of The Anarchist whenever you can get one ready.
September 7, 2014 at 3:05 pm #428732That’s fine. I told ej that once his parts are done, I was going to merge the fixes together, get the cons made, and then ask you if you wanted to play them again and see if you noticed anything. NL doesn’t have the time to play them for now, so I’ll probably just post the link here if anyone else wanted to try them. They’ll probably be up mid this next week if that’s alright.
September 7, 2014 at 6:06 pm #428736I’ll try to upload individual tracks to my youtube account the next time I play them.
