This is more specific to my drum module and the Pro Drums midi adapter then anything BUT here goes

I’m having a ton of either missed hits or over hits with the Pro “high hat” yellow every time I play any song.

now all the rest of the notes I have mapped correctly and don’t have any issues but it comes down to the high hat cymbal it’s a “CY-5” cymbal and I’m starting to think it’s the cymbal’s fault at this point and no matter what I change on sensitivity, cross talk, what have you I have a ton of issues <img decoding=” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_frown.gif” /> I know this is pretty specific but might as well ask anyway it practically ruins it for me.

    EDIT

all right I took apart my CY-5 setup and reconnected looked up the manual and noticed I had “one” part slightly off now it doesn’t “slide” anymore! so far so good! I will continue testing but right now it’s already much better.

(when I bought the drum kit it didn’t come with any manual so I had to look at pictures online and peace together)

I had the same problem with a Yamaha hi-hat. It has to do with the dual zones on the hi-hat. When playing RB I have to use a single zone cymbal for my hi-hat.

Its most likely the cymbal at fault but you can try to keep adjusting the sensitivity of the hi hat in the brain. I have issues with my yellow cymbal breaking combo but it only happens on fast disco beat sections. Do you see any other colors going off when just using the hi hat? A good song to test this on is The Who “Behind Blue Eyes” where the drums dont come in for a minute or so. Just smack the living hell out of the hi hat and see if any other trigger is going off to make sure there is no cross talk.

I did some tests and I don’t think there is any cross talk issue going on I just tried “Surfin’ USA” and I turned up both the threshold/retrig cancel up higher and I imagine I’ll get a single zone cymbal at some point but I will test “Behind Blue Eyes” No other colors are popping up only my cymbal breaking combo essentially I’ll keep messing with it but so far it’s doing MUCH better I will update further.

On the dual zone cymbal, have you tried turning all the settings down to 0 on one of the zones? Just try using only one of the zones.

Hmmm it has let’s say “crash 2 edge” and “crash 2 bow” (I’m using a different cable for it cause my actual high hat cable is fucked)

I don’t think it let’s me individually change the sensitivity of the bow and edge but I can change the midi to turn it off and or etc

sorry If I misread but that’s where I’m at now

should I turn off one of them but wouldn’t that make it worse cause I wouldn’t be able to hit some notes?

Do you have crash 2 edge and crash 2 bow both mapped to be yellow cymbal? If so just turn one of them off. Also they make cables that are made for single zone cymbals and dual zone cymbals. Not sure if your cable could be causing problems too.

Hmmm it could be the cable I haven’t messed with that yet but also on one of my kits I turned off “crash 2 edge” with the midi mapping and that sort of made it worse oddly enough.

If you have another dual zone cymbal like say maybe your blue ride then try swapping the cables. The thing is if your playing basic slow beats and the yellow cymbal is dropping the trigger for that cymbal sounds like its faulty.

I tested it and it’s not the cable that’s messed up I did what you said to do and here’s something to note I don’t know if this has anything to do with it but it might

My high hat tends to slide like slide around in a circle when I play I’ve tried tightening it but no luck

maybe just the Roland CY-5 the cymbal I have hates rock band 3 :/

Well that surely sounds like the problem. The top and bottom are rattling with each other and causing double hits. You can try searching for your problem in Docs Mod Forums. I dont know how active it is in there anymore but its worth a try. http://docsrockbandmods.net/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=4429

I wonder why it’s sliding so much I could probably find something to clamp it down so it doesn’t move when I play but it shouldn’t be doing that anyway

I did find this one but I don’t know what he’s referring do

I’m going to take apart my high hat and put it back together and see if I missed something.
