Hello,
I am new to this forum and even to the Wii itself, but I fell in love with Rock Band 3 immedietly.
Then I searched the RB online store for AC/DC songs and was quite disappointed that there aren’t any official DLC songs of my favorite rock band. I am aware that there is that Walmart standalone Rock Band game, but as you all know, those songs aren’t exportable for Wii users.
So my question: Are the songs on the Rock Band AC/DC disc Multitracks and if so, couldn’t you convert them for RB3? I am thankful for the 3 Australian Day Pack AC/DC songs (and for any other song here for sure or any future song btw.), but Multitrack would be just heaven on earth when playing any AC/DC title in RB3.
January 28, 2015 at 5:19 pm #437225I’m not entirely sure what you’re asking about. Are you asking for us to release the AC/DC disc pack for Wii? Because that’s against the forum rules; we won’t release or permit pirated copies of HMX-made things. If you’re asking how to get it on Wii, I’m pretty sure the setlist exports for free if you have the code that came with the game, regardless of system.
January 28, 2015 at 5:35 pm #437226As C3 we don’t release already released content by HMX playable in Rock Band 3, so no joy, sorry.
January 28, 2015 at 5:43 pm #437227As a Wii user myself, I don’t believe that there was an export code or anything for any of the Rock Band games except for if you had previous data from Rock Band 2. That the only exportable songs that I know of for the Wii. I could be totally wrong but I’m 95% sure that there is no code for exporting. Plus I think it’s also because it uses the RB1 engine, but that’s totally skepticism

If a user wants to PM material to another user who can’t technically buy that content anyway, that’s another matter…
January 28, 2015 at 6:24 pm #437231To make myself clear, I would definitely buy the AC/DC Rock Band game if there was a key to export the songs to Rock Band 3, but being a Wii user, there’s no such option, only for XBox and PS3

So no, there is no “official” way to get the Harmonix AC/DC content into Rock Band 3 for Wii.
If it’s against a forum rule to ask to convert the standalone AC/DC Rock Band songs for Wii, scratch my request, but I ensure you, there’s definitely no other way to be able to play them in RB3.

As I said, not debating that.

January 29, 2015 at 7:34 am #437277Hmm, I just wonder what’s the difference between converting Guitar Hero content for RB3 offered here and my request…

And if Multitracks are that hard to come by, not using those tracks for conversion would mean no AC/DC Multitracks in Rock Band 3 ever, at least for Wii users.

Guitar Hero content has nothing to do with Harmonix. What you’re asking is essentially to pirate original content, ripping it from the original disc and distributing it. You can’t play Guitar Hero content in Rock Band, you can play AC/DC Rock Band on any console. Guitar Hero content is reworked and if at any time HMX releases their own versions they will release a better and more polished version. The ripped versions would be exactly the same, on the other hand.
About not having AC/DC multitracks for the Wii you need to take it up to HMX. Our mission is to deliver new content and adapt content that wasn’t available for Rock Band before. We don’t release or make available songs pulled from the store either for any system.

I just bought me a copy of the AC/DC Rock Band “Track Pack” for Wii, converted the DVD to ISO and took a glimpse at the file structure.
Wouldn’t it be possible to convert the .bik files there to RB 3 by myself for my personal use? If so, is it allowed to ask how I could accomplish such a thing? Any hint would be much appreciated. And sorry that this thread is mutating to offtopic now.

Yep, asking that is fine, though I’m not sure on disc material is easy to convert (I may be totally wrong but I don’t think it’s been done even on Xbox).
February 6, 2015 at 3:22 pm #437817Doable. Easy? Not really.
February 6, 2015 at 5:03 pm #437829Doable by using the tools in your signature or do I need anything else?
I am willing to read any tutorial if I just knew which one is the right for me…
February 6, 2015 at 5:34 pm #437832As far as I know there is no tutorial on how to do this, and I’m NOT willing to write it up. I don’t know about the Wii versions, you might need to approach a Wii player.
For Xbox you need to install the game to your Xbox, copy the installed game to your PC, convert those files into an ISO, extract the contents of the ISO, then locate and extract the ARK file contents. Then you have the loose files that go into making a CON file, and you can use C3 CON Tools’ CON Creator to package the files into a CON. You’ll also need to separate the song’s DTA entry from the one big one used for all disc songs, or you can leave them together if you’re going to build a pack with the files. All of this requires extensive knowledge of various aspects of handling Xbox files and the structure of CON files. So it’s not for the faint of heart nor a beginner.
On PS3, if you have a BluRay drive on your PC you can just pop the disc into it, and copy the ark files out, and go from there. You can skip the install + copy of contents + create ISO + extract ISO steps.
No idea for Wii, but probably similar to one of the two. But yeah, this is just stuff I happen to know after years of being involved in this, not something I found in a tutorial.
February 6, 2015 at 9:22 pm #437848First, thanks for your time…
I extracted the “songs” folder from the .ARK file and now got all the song folders with a “gen” folder and .mid, .mogg and .pan files.
Are those sufficient to build CON files? Could you explain the part with the DTA entry futher or is it all (or most of it) explained in the CON tools tutorial video?
