June 15, 2015 at 6:18 pm #448081yeah guys…maybe we can just have one system for both rb3 and rb4…if you don’t care about customs that is.
I don’t think RB3 will work on Xbox One. The developer needs to allow backwards compatibility to work and you can’t use 360 instruments on the Xbox One without the adapter which I doubt will work on RB3. But we will see I guess.
June 15, 2015 at 6:18 pm #448082Boy I hope no one at C3 was working on that Elvis song.
I sure wish HMX would pre-empt me with some of the songs I’m working …
June 15, 2015 at 6:34 pm #448083So… Pre-orders are live…
I shouldn’t be surprised by this I suppose, but, as usual, Canadians* need not apply. Amazon.com won’t ship this to Canada, and Amazon.ca does not have it listed.
The more things change, the more they stay the same.
*Very likely not exclusively
June 15, 2015 at 6:35 pm #448084As a note, HMX FAQ confirms no online at launch. Won’t affect me but it’s a crazy omission, imo!
June 15, 2015 at 6:37 pm #448085Few thoughts:
Songs: Not a big Elvis fan but to secure that license is surprising and a HUGE get for HMX, well done. The Warrior is awesome, the other ones don’t excite me that much.
The Price: Very surprised by this. I’ll still get it, but I was expecting $199, similarly to the RB1 bundle. All though with better technology and inflation almost 8 years later, it shouldn’t be too surprising that it’s more expensive.
Online Play: Baffling to me to say the least. For a game that had it in 2007 at launch, that’s a very strange omission. I know they’ve said “We can patch it in later”, but can they? That seems like a pretty intrauterine system to implement into a game AFTER launch, but hey I’m not a programmer. A lot of people used the excuse of “In the survey I put online towards the bottom” Well yeah of course you did, compared to the other options of more DLC, backwards compatibility of old DLC and instruments, and a tour mode. But that doesn’t mean people didn’t want online play. But that’s like asking us to rank Sex, Video Games, Oreo’s, Having a million dollars, and owning a professional sports team. Even though Oreo’s maybe at the bottom for most, it doesn’t mean we don’t want it, so that excuse doesn’t really fly for me. As I mentioned before, this is where being self published is catching up to them. I honestly believe they don’t have the resources to sustain servers for online play.
June 15, 2015 at 6:41 pm #448086I honestly believe they don’t have the resources to sustain servers for online play. Most console titles are peer-to-peer, it seems, anyway, so that’s a non-issue. Matchmaking/pairing stuff, if that’s what you meant, is a little bit of a different story but certainly more doable.
June 15, 2015 at 6:43 pm #448087It’s been mentioned more than once now that cymbals are in, they’re improved from prior version, and just like prior version, they’re added on at an extra premium. I just hope I can get them on day 1, don’t want to play without them.I haven’t really been keeping up to date as I don’t bother reading the Rock Band forum anymore. I meant that it seems they’re pushing pro drums out as a standard feature and making it more of a niche feature. If the kit doesn’t come with cymbals, fewer people will play pro drums. Am I mistaken, or didn’t the RB3 drum kit come with cymbals and only RB2 era kits had to have them bought separately?
June 15, 2015 at 6:44 pm #448088Good question, I never saw a RB3 kit, only RB2 and TBRB kits so I bought my cymbals separately.
June 15, 2015 at 6:47 pm #448089I know they’ve said “We can patch it in later”, but can they? The problem I see is that they are not including features for which there isn’t enough demand. Now, is there ever going to be more demand for any feature AFTER the initial release, when the game hits the stores, advertising campaigns kick in, etc.?
June 15, 2015 at 7:02 pm #448090They’ve pretty much killed all the desire I had to go out and buy an xbox one, maybe some new instruments and RB4 with all these recent announcements. It’s just not a very compelling buy and customs are to blame for a lot of it. I just haven’t seen a song yet that screams MUST and the only downside to customs for me was the inability to play online with all my buddies who don’t live near me. No online play just kills it for me. I don’t care for the freestyle guitar stuff whatsoever and I never sing so that isn’t interesting either. Also I’m in Canada so it’ll probably be hard to get instruments and be insanely expensive.
I think I might just re-up for Gold and play RB3 online and go back and forth with customs.
June 15, 2015 at 7:06 pm #448091Well, anyone want to join me on the Pre-Ordered on Day 1 Club? Seems to be mighty lonely here. We have t-shirts. Someone will bring cookies, I’m sure.
June 15, 2015 at 7:11 pm #448093Considering that so many other games these days ship unfinished and have features patched in or released as DLC later on, this actually is completely unsurprising.
Who wants to bet money that they’ll patch keys back in later when they actually have money?
June 15, 2015 at 7:21 pm #448095“Wow” on Elvis.
“Sigh” on everything else.
June 15, 2015 at 7:33 pm #448097Well, anyone want to join me on the Pre-Ordered on Day 1 Club? Seems to be mighty lonely here. We have t-shirts. Someone will bring cookies, I’m sure.I already called EB Games and they said they won’t take pre-orders until tomorrow. I NEED MY BAND IN A BOX DAMMIT!
June 15, 2015 at 7:37 pm #448099So what exactly was the ‘big deal’ in this announcement? Freestyle guitar solos? That was such a ‘meh’ feature for me, and I’m a primary guitar player. But they seemed so excited about it in the behind the scenes video! I guess I’m just not the target audience anymore ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_frown.gif” />
Well, anyone want to join me on the Pre-Ordered on Day 1 Club? Seems to be mighty lonely here. We have t-shirts. Someone will bring cookies, I’m sure.I imagine it’s easier for you to pull the trigger on it since you have the system already. For me I’d have to get the system too so I’m waiting for more complete information before committing. I mean, they haven’t even released pricing/availability information on whatever adapter things we need for 360 instrument compatibility. With current information this is a $600 game for me. That is an awful lot. I’m going to hold out a bit longer.
