I really don’t like the sound of freestyle guitar solos.
If they replace solos with freestyles, like BREs, then that’s just one more degree of casualization that I really hate. I hate BREs and trill lanes. I don’t like drum fills either but I see the point in those, at least.

It’s surely gonna be optional anyway like activation fills on drums.

I think the date looks all but confirmed. I have to say, there’s little in the press release that makes me want to go and preorder right now because I really really HAVE to play this on day 1. Some interesting new additions but even the campaign mode seems underwhelming 4 months away from release. I suppose E3 will tell us more.
Online play is not mentioned and if I were the kind of player who used to play online a lot I would now start to worry, because I checked all 3 previous iterations and online play *or leaderboards* are mentioned even on the box of each and every one of them. I’m stressing leaderboards because I find it weird that the word “online” is not mentioned once in the press release when even in the very very small real estate of the back of a video game disc case has always been mentioned before. For reference, previous titles would specifically say that parts of the gameplay were available online. One could argue that it’s such a basic feature that the press release didn’t need to mention it, but regardless of the fact that they did mention it in the previous iterations, we also have the interview with the question “is there going to be an online mode at all” to which we know the answer was vague.
June 13, 2015 at 2:19 pm #447860I’d bet that online play/competitive mode will *not* be included initially. Didn’t hmxhenry say that they were excited about being able to add functionality post-release, like additional clothing assets, and competitive modes? Or did I mis-hear?
June 13, 2015 at 2:42 pm #447863while my position on RB4 is still 50% “no gh2 x-plorer, no buy” and 50% “I don’t have an xbone anyway”, no online would make it even less enthusiastic tbh.
The soundtrack better be extroadinary to make up for this stuff

RB4 has a much smaller budget than RB1-3…so I’m not sure how many big names are going to be on the setlist, TBH.
June 13, 2015 at 4:38 pm #447881No pro keys/guitar/bass, no online multiplayer, no Ion drum kit support, and who knows what other surprises. There’s absolutely no reason for me to get this game, especially considering that I’d have to buy a new console to play it.
June 13, 2015 at 4:46 pm #447882Don’t worry Harmonix devs, I’ll buy your game.
June 13, 2015 at 6:10 pm #447888whoah, where is it confirmed that there will be no ion support?
June 13, 2015 at 6:40 pm #447894whoah, where is it confirmed that there will be no ion support?Nowhere, but Madcatz has confirmed they are not producing any adapter and wired instruments *for now* are still off the table.

There’s absolutely no reason for me to get this game, especially considering that I’d have to buy a new console to play it.Also, based on that press release verbiage of “over 60 songs” I think it’s safe to assume there will probably 61-65 songs in the game which is around 20 less songs than RB3 came with. So, while DLC will transfer over, it’s still less songs on disc.
June 14, 2015 at 4:40 am #447965I still stick by the lack of online play having to due with the fact of them being self published and self funding now. They don’t have the money of a bigger company anymore to maintain servers for online play. I’m sure the licensing of 60 songs isn’t cheap either, then combine that with production costs, that’s a lot of money for what some would consider an “indie” studio now, no longer under a big time publisher.

June 14, 2015 at 4:08 pm #447981I don’t either. I mean you gotta work with what you have, but it just seems to me that’s the issue. I can just see where It would just kinda suck for people who want it if they can’t get people together for a full band in person. And for a current gen game to not have a feature that a previous gen version did have, especially when the main idea is to play with a full group of some sort.
