If the PC version doesn’t get funded I sure hope that doesn’t completely debunk the whole Steam workshop RBN gig. Use the Steam workshop to create content and force all of it’s content to be ported to the consoles.
Problem with that is no way to test the content, you can’t have a steam workshop page without having a appid attached to it, and Harmonix don’t have the resources to port every single RBN3.0 release to consoles

March 21, 2016 at 4:09 pm #465711I would be totally happy having Rock Band 4 PC and my Xbox 360. It would be sweet to have it all on one console. But I can have both running at the same time and switch between TV modes to play each back and forth. So its not the end of the world for me on some of the “lost” content.
March 21, 2016 at 9:12 pm #46574515 days. Still needs $1.1M. lol, what a failure.
March 21, 2016 at 10:50 pm #465754Y’know, as cynical as I am about the project, I’m kinda saddened it’s probably not going to reach it’s goal. It was a very ambitious project but I hope it won’t screw Harmonix over too much. For all the wonderful times they provided us rhythm game enthusiasts I’d hate to see this project be the end of Harmonix. From all the setbacks they had it’s sounding like they’re putting all they have left into this.
Maybe that’s a little dramatic, I don’t know.

They aren’t putting anything into this if the crowdfunding campaign isn’t successful. They’ll just continue as they were.
March 21, 2016 at 11:50 pm #465760If people really knew the mood at Harmonix, they wouldn’t even think of suggesting they’re taking a huge hit from Rock Band 4, that they’re on their heels, etc.
March 22, 2016 at 12:25 am #465767Yeah, that’s the thing. I don’t know.
What I do know is that Harmonix has lost a lot of funding compared to their previous games and their staff has become a lot smaller. Their instrument provider has had some financial issues, RB4 and their other games are underselling, and at the current rate this project will barely get half the funding it needs.
If they’re optimistic about all this and expect to continue on, that’s great. Really. I’m glad they’re upbeat about the future of their company. I just know from personal experience that if I was in their shoes and the situation was what I know now, I’d be thinking a lot differently.

It really depends on how they decided to go about this. If they’re waiting to do anything until they see whether this is funded or not (which seems like a HMX thing to do), you’re correct. If they’ve started working on what they can, then there’s quite a bit they did put into this already.
March 22, 2016 at 7:04 pm #465812They just announced a new tier where you get all the DLC they have released. Or something, there was some bogus fine print where they said they don’t know how many songs they’ll have. $2500. Desperation.

Yeah, it’s obvious to everyone but them that this campaign is going to fail. I think this might be the demise of the entire company honestly. The VR title is ridiculous and goes against everything Rock Band is supposed to be.
March 22, 2016 at 7:45 pm #465814You’re seriously whining about that fact that they can’t predict the @#*&( future?!
Of course they don’t know how many songs they’ll have! Nobody can! But they’ll give you what they have when that future time arrives!
I hate how people throw the term “entitled” around these days, but calling “bogus fine print” on something that’s completely common sense distinctly qualifies.
March 22, 2016 at 8:08 pm #465817i agree with MFX, it’s pointless complaining about how many songs are included. but although $2500 for a DLC library worth about twice as much under normal circumstances is a good deal, it doesn’t change the fact that they’re asking people to pay extra for content they probably already have on their console RB3 or 4.
March 22, 2016 at 8:21 pm #465819Well, remember that the target audience is not console players, it’s all countless PC players that were supposedly being discriminated against by HMX not having a PC version. Anyone who is a PC gamer and is only now getting into RB can save a lot of money with that offer. I’ve probably spent that much already and I maybe have 1100 songs total now. It’s not a bad deal. It’s just also not what is going to save this campaign.

true, but this deal was apparently created for console players who want their DLC to carry over to the new platform – at least, that’s how they seem to be framing it. which really just makes this yet another confusing decision from HMX anyway.
March 22, 2016 at 8:30 pm #465822I don’t think people entirely understand that a crowdfunding campaign is done NOT to tie company’s money in a new project…
