    Hello everyone,

I’m happy to see so many people are still enjoying Rock Band and it isn’t just me! I do have a small question though. I am playing on Rock Band 3 for Wii and have uploaded numerous custom songs in the past, all of which were downloaded here. They have all worked flawlessly with the exception of two: Master of Puppets – Metallica and Dani California – The Eagles. When attempting to play them, I quickly receive the error “Content cannot be restored to Wii”. I have performed the following troubleshooting:

-Cleared the Wii cache with WiiExplorer and allowed the game to re-load all DLC and customs.

-Performed the entire conversion and load process again for these two songs (Convert from _rb3con to the two Wii Folders [meta and song], change the names [the decimal and hex numbers on the folders are correct. I also updated them inside the songs.dta folders and updated sZFE]. I create the .bat file, generate the .bin files and place them on the SD Card as I have all customs).

Yet they still refuse to play. Please let me know if you want me to paste the contents of the songs.dta file and perhaps the community can spot an error that I somehow missed? Please let me know,

    Thank you so much

From my thread for Wii users, which you should totally check out!:

“Ya know, I swear I compiled this slot correctly… the BINs are definitely in the correct folder on the SD card and the paths in the songs.dta file are also correct. But when I select the song in my library and try to play it, I get an error saying the file can’t be restored from the system memory!”

Is your song BIN (always oddly numbered) too large? Yes, it is. You will have to move a song (or more) to another slot, then recompile and refresh your cache. It should work after that. If not, well… I don’t know. Ask for help here.

The reason Hotel California and Master of Puppets aren’t working is because the files as Xbox CONs are simply too big. The Wii has a cap of 40 MB per BIN.

Master of Puppets is 46.6 MB.

      Hotel California is 40.6 MB.

Both of these songs are multi-tracked, which is why they are so huge and over the cap, and even if the Wii could load them, they would stutter during gameplay.

      BUT FEAR NOT!

StackOverflow0x has made Wii-friendly versions. Master of Puppets is here and Hotel California is here (and one of my FAVORITE customs). If you have any further questions, hit me up! Atruejedi, you are fantastic! Thank you for your quick, very detailed and very friendly response! You even provided links to wii friendly versions – definitely over the top in your post! I will give these a try later on today and report back. Thanks again and have a fantastic day!

Although I would have preferred the OP post in the main Wii thread, is this usually a problem? I hadn’t particularly noticed.

Rarely a problem, because usually you won’t even try using multi-tracked songs unless they’re made specifically for the Wii. Multi-tracked non-Wii versions are a real crap shoot. I’d say I’ve had success using 40% or so of them with no stuttering, which is always a welcome surprise.

I was talking about the “Take note guys, this is a prime example of how you give a helpful and friendly response.” part. Apologies if this was not clear.

Quick question – how were you able to search for these songs? I have gone to StackOverflow0x’s profile page and in his song list, I can only see 115 songs, none of which are Master of Puppets and Dani California. If I wanted to search his vast collection of wii-made customs, how would I do so?

Please let me know, Thank you

                  Probably here:

                  http://www.pksage.com/songlist/?sc=C3

That’s our old database, which has links to PS3, Wii and Phase Shift specific conversions that were made by designated people back in the day.

Can they work on Wii U?

Hi! I’m having some trouble with some multi-tracking customs. There’re anyway to transform multi-track into single-track customs?
