Does anyone know how to tell if they’re buying the EA version instead of Madcatz?
I bought one used from amazon and it was mad catz
If you’re buying used online, your best option is to either message the seller or, if it’s eBay or similar, check the packaging in the photos. If they’re using a stock photo you might have a problem.
Your best bet is to go into an actual brick and mortar store. That way you can check which disc you’re getting.

Just make sure it has the MTV logo and it’s good. They often have them used at all the usual places for such stuff. I bought a back up copy at Gamestop recently, about $25.
On the cover of the disc case there should be a little WHITE guitar pick with EA in the middle on the bottom right hand corner, thats the one you are looking for. If buying off EBAY etc be sure to ask the seller if it has this WHITE emblem. A lot of sellers have this picture posted but when you ask them if its the same as the picture they provided it has the RED guitar pick, that disc is useless for customs
Thank you everyone for the tips. If I’m spending all this time authoring customs I damn well better be able to play them.
Bundles are also good. The old Pro Keys bundle should still have the EA disc, that’s how I bought my third copy.
that’s how I bought my third copy
WHAT?? Third copy? And the others?

Still there, I have two backups.
That’s actually not a bad idea. I mean, disks do not last forever, and they’re only going to get harder and more expensive to find. I should probably pick up another copy. Mine still works fine, but it was a release day copy so it’s as old as it can be ha
Indeed. My buddy C16 found me a second copy, which I now keep in my safe box. I want at least one more copy but they’re very hard to find locally. I almost won one on eBay and was (automatically I presume) outbid by $0.01. Bastard >” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_frown.gif” />
