To mark the amazing ten year anniversary of our favourite game, I’ll be releasing a new song every day this week:
Monday 26th October 2020
To mark the 10th anniversary of the North American release; a track from one of North America’s biggest rock bands that is still a huge hit across the pond here in the UK but strangely doesn’t appear to have been mentioned in the forums before. A definite party favourite.
KISS – CRAZY CRAZY NIGHTS
Although this has been released on Guitar Hero in recent years, I have not viewed their version and this is a completely fresh chart. I apologise for the near-impossible guitar solo! A great finger work-out all the same ” data-emoticon=”” src=”

Tuesday 27th October 2020
A one-hit-wonder that has not only been previously requested a number of times on the boards here over the years, but whose title is particularly apt because Rock Band 3 really was, the one and only rhythm game you’ve ever needed…
CHESNEY HAWKES – THE ONE AND ONLY

Wednesday 28th October 2020
To mark the 10th anniversary of the Australian release of RB3; a special track that includes one of Australia’s biggest-ever bands and a nod to past Rock Band games in the series… You may never have heard it before but this is about as close to a celebration of Rock Band in one 4-minute song as I could find…
AC/DC (feat. QUEEN, OUTKAST, BLACK SABBATH, PRINCE, LED ZEPPELIN, CROWDED HOUSE, THE BEATLES, SNOOP DOGG, DR DRE) – ROCK IN BLACK
This incredible mix by Mark Vidler (Go Home Productions) features ten artists on one track (either as part of the vocals or backing)…in order of appearance…
OutKast – ‘Mrs Jackson‘
AC/DC – ‘Back In Black’ and ‘Can I Sit Next To You Girl’
Queen – ‘We Will Rock You’
Black Sabbath – ‘War Pigs‘
Led Zeppelin – ‘Black Dog’
Prince – ‘Let’s Go Crazy’
Crowded House – ‘Weather With You’
The Beatles – ‘A Day In The Life‘
Snoop Dogg feat. Dr. Dre – ‘The Next Episode‘
YouTube Link to Track:
This is a nod to the Rock Band titles that have kept the genre going over the years; including AC/DC Live, Lego Rock Band, The Beatles, and the incredible library of Harmonix RB Downloadable tracks (and of course C3). None of the songs featured have used any copied charts and have all been charted entirely from scratch. I did approach funkydunkleman to copy his version of ‘Back In Black’ but was unable to obtain permission. Any similarity in charting is entirely accidental. Some of the vocal parts (including ‘Back In Black’) have been pitched in Reaper but were near-impossible to sing correctly, so have been made un-pitched. If you want to subsequently edit that in your own versions, the correct pitches are on the VOCAL track in Reaper if you unpack the file.
I am sadly unable to upload this into the main database at present due to the ongoing problems logging-into it, so here is the direct link to the file, which I’ll add to the database once it is possible to do so:

Thursday 29th October 2020
To mark the anniversary of the European release; a collaborative effort from two European nations that has over the years become a firm Christmas favourite due to its December release and orchestral backing, and whose title is again particularly apt. It’s all about what everyone is doing here, because without C3, RB3 would simply not still be going after all this time. We are all helping to keep the dream alive…
FREIHEIT (with the LONDON SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA) – KEEPING THE DREAM ALIVE
As there is no lead guitar in this song, the guitar largely plays the part for lead strings:

To end the week and in a final salute to the Rock Band games of years past, this song features two classics tracks in one great song, played entirely by the band Rock Sugar (who if you’ve never heard of them, produced an entire album of tracks that combine classic rock and pop songs). The original tracks they have almost seamlessly combined in their cover are:
– Metallica – ‘Enter Sandman’ [from Rock Band 1]
– Journey – ‘Don’t Stop Believing’ [from RB Download]
The entire track has been written from scratch and I have not used either song previously individually released by Harmonix as a base. Any similarity is entirely coincidental. I have even gone to pains to make part of Journey’s song play differently (the repeated run-downs on guitar near the beginning):
ROCK SUGAR – DON’T STOP THE SANDMAN
http://www.mediafire.com/file/lzjgfzbbww7cz42/RockSugarDontStopSandman_rb3con/file
All the above tracks feature guitar, bass, vocals, harmonies (where available), pro drums, and drum animations. I’d been working on them for about 20-30 hours a week in my free time over the past 6 weeks and had hoped I’d done them justice and that you’d enjoy them.
Having seen the reaction to the first song I released this week, I’m disappointed that I’m still clearly not able to write acceptable files after 5-6 years of trying and therefore these will be my last public upload. If anyone wants to do anything with them to make them better or up to your standard, please go for it; they’re all yours. You aren’t the first to have taken one and made a new version from it. I’ve never had an interest in personal recognition and just wanted to share with people the enjoyment I have in playing them. I also enjoyed writing these songs, some that I’d waited a long time to be able to play. I wish all of you the best with your tracks and hope that some of you will be around to celebrate another great milestone in this wonderful games history in years to come. It’s goodbye from me, and thank you.
October 12, 2020 at 3:41 pm #514580Is it okay if I make some guesses to songs? Would love to try

You can go right ahead old chap – knock yourself out – but I’m keeping it 🤐! 😜

Were you sure you poked around he WIP forum and checked if anyone else was doing your selections either? Granted the hints are somewhat vague so maybe there’s no conflict, but it would be painful to have dived headfirst into something

I did as much research as possible and even privately messaged people yes. None of the above songs were on anybody’s current WIP lists.

Yeah, ignore my previous comment; I clearly didn’t read the whole thing LOL.

I was guessing the same for this one!
For #1 I’d say “Maria” by Blondie and for #3 “Immortality” by the Bee Gees and Celine Dion.
Otherwise “one-hit wonder” and “unique track” are too generic for me to guess anything ” data-emoticon=”” src=”

/emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” title=”” /> I’m pretty sure Band Aid has already been made by someone? And as for Blondie – Maria, that IS a banger, and I genuinely considered that one. I’ll give another clue to each next week for those that are interested. The unique tracks are admittedly almost impossible to guess but should be a lot of fun to play…

Re-checked the customs on the C3 control panel and yes.
Someone has already made Do They Know It’s Christmas…I thought I was gonna get one right LOL 😭

WIP lists are only good for telling you what works are currently in progress — they don’t tell you what songs have already been made. Had you checked the database, you would have seen that I did “Do They Know It’s Christmas” back in 2016.

TBH, I was the one who suggested “Do They Know It’s Christmas?”.
Also, database is dead but someone had a link to the C3 Control Panel that had all of the customs and I found that song so sorry about that 😕

No worries. I just wanted to drive home the importance of checking both WIP lists AND the database. I realize that the database has been down for a little over a week now, but the author pointed out in a previous comment that he had been working on these new customs for the past three weeks, so it shouldn’t have been that hard to confirm that one of them on had already been authored.

That is always the first place I check. I then check whether Harmonix have made it. Then I check the forums. I can’t do any more than I have. It would also be some coincidence that after so long, someone else suddenly made the same song in the same six week period. If they have, c’est la vie. What more can you do?

Just to be clear; I haven’t made Band Aid and never said I had! 😂 Now we’re talking about it I’m actually certain I enjoyed playing your custom version of it during December a couple of years back. I’ll definitely get that out again this Christmas because it’s a great song and it’ll bring some much needed cheer 😊
