Hi guys,
I just got involved in customs, and was wondering if you guys could clear a couple of things up for me:
1. I’m interested in recharting the drum part for Obfuscation, which I have on RBN. The problem is that I don’t have the original master tracks, and I’m not sure how to get them. However, I do have the RBS file from when it was in peer review, if there’s a way to get it from that.
2. There’s a rbcon file I have of a song that will not be named whose chart kinda sucks. Is it possible to work backwards from an rbcon file and change the mid and recompile it back?
Thanks!

1. You can disassemble an RBS, but the mogg encryption hasn’t been broken.
2. Yes.

Has RBN content been decrypted from a not-RBS file angle? Like the stuff downloaded to the xbox when you buy it? Or is there no hope for getting the masters for Obfuscation?
And can you link me to something that’ll allow me to work backward from a rbcon file?

And can you link me to something that’ll allow me to work backward from a rbcon file?LeFluffie C3. Note that you can also work forward again.

December 30, 2013 at 12:08 am #411357If you’re looking to do up a ‘corrected’ chart for either song, you can always implement it as an upgrade file a la custom pro guitar upgrades/Rock Band: Harmonies Project upgrade.
If it impacts scoring, I wouldn’t be willing to include it part and parcel with my releases as of right now (I want to at least try and protect leaderboard integrity that way), but for something like fixing a broken note or adding pro drums notation, I would be more than willing to. Once the Leaderboards go poof I am totally open for including full-blown corrections to charts (for example, the RB1 disc drum charts that intentionally left notes out).
December 31, 2013 at 7:23 am #411411Obfuscation would be a “for fun” type deal. I have no idea if the chart is inaccurate or not, I’d chart myself and see how it matches up. I’m not even sure how I’d get the MIDI out of the RBS file anyway if I were to append my chart to the original…
As for the other song, it’s a custom song made by a user here. My changes would drastically affect scoring, unfortunately. The drum chart is just very wrong, I’m sad to say. It makes what should be a relatively easy song, extremely uncomfortable/borderline unplayable. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_frown.gif” />
If I were to do it, I’m not sure releasing it is a good idea for the sake of not offending the original author. If you would want it anyway, I’d be happy to provide it when I finish. I haven’t started yet, however.

Not everybody is very competent on each and every instrument but almost everybody is very willing to learn. Just PM the author and submit your opinions: chances are he will take your suggestions and either explain to you why he sticks with what he did, incorporate your fixes or let you redo the track for him.
