I have a song that has a .mogg file larger than 40mb so I cant use it with my wii customs method with SD card. I have tried using audacity and cutting out some channels of the song that you cant hear that well, but I think that causes me to be stuck on loading screen forever. Is there a proper way to make the .mogg files smaller so I can use my custom song?

This should go in the dedicated Wii thread, but I don’t blame you as the last recent RockBiink tutorial is buried too far in there.
But yes, you’re not going to get what you want just cutting out channels. You’ll need RockBiink for Wii customs.

RockBiink is a tool that generates a script for use with the RAD Video Tools that lets you make Rock Band 3 Wii-compatible Bink (.bik) files for your multitrack audio. This normally performs better than a comparable mogg file its file size is often smaller than the mogg, too.

Using it should be fairly simple. You give it mono WAV files for each playable audio part. In Audacity, you can convert a stereo track to mono if you need to cut down on tracks and if the audio doesn’t suffer too much from doing that. You can also mix down drums parts in Audacity to a single stereo mix. You have to do this since RockBiink does not support more than 2 tracks for Drums. Each track has to be exported individually as a mono track. For stereo parts, you can append L or R to the end of the file name to keep track of which part was the left and right audio track.

RockBiink can also update your DTA, which you’ll need to do if the audio configuration changed such as a part being mono instead of stereo.

Let me know if you have any more questions.

Actually I do, I realize im running into the size issue more and more recently. Since all my customs are in .bin form and I dont have a backup of all the .apps, is there any way possible to switch my method of custom songs to the NAND version? Im assuming I have to start from scratch again but if its possible there is a tutorial out there on how to convert from .bin method to .app would be appreciated.

This is why I keep a backup of all my files in their original meta and song folder formats. That way I can easily repackage them into app and bin files whenever I need to.

If you’re working on your own, original customs I do highly advise doing this. If it’s a different custom you’re trying to get working you could always PM me and I’ll see what I can do to help. I might even have a working copy of something you’re looking for.

Nah, then people can start doing all kinds of shitty things. If you want me to lock it, let me know.

I wasn’t talking about the thread but my own post. I just feel that a timed button that stays X minutes after you post something could be usefull in case of an error like this one.
