Remove song info from cache?

Hey pals. I’ve been out from the world of customs for a long while, so bear with me a bit here.
I’ve been trying to have my songs use custom sources in the game (as in, GH5 conversions have “Guitar Hero 5” for the source, customs say “Customs”, etc). I couldn’t find info on how to do this through google, so I tested it myself with a few songs (I have it working fine now, no issues there)
My issue comes from the songs I was using to test the sources. I added one song as “customs”, but I’d like to go back and change it to say “Guitar Hero DLC”. Unfortunately, because it’s already in the RB3 song cache, I can’t find any way to do so. I’ve noticed you can remove a song from the cache with the setlist feature in the con tools, but if there’s a way to package it into a new cache I can’t find it. Deleting the song from RB3 doesn’t work, neither does deleting it from the dashboard. I tried manually editing the song’s metadata, but just changing the values in there doesn’t work of course since they’re already stored in the cache & as such aren’t being read
Any suggestions? I’m looking for a way to make it forget about that test song, basically, so I can change its source to the proper one. Thanks in advance.
Edit: Upon further consideration deleting the cache will work, but before I do that I want to make sure: There’s not anything stored in there other than metadata, right? I’m not going to lose scores if I delete it?

I couldn’t find info on how to do this through google, so I tested it myself with a few songs (I have it working fine now, no issues there)How? As far as it’s known, once TU4 hit, custom sources were disabled and all custom songs are listed under RBN. If you got this working under TU4, I’d love to hear how it was done.
Any suggestions? I’m looking for a way to make it forget about that test song, basically, so I can change its source to the proper one. Thanks in advance.

Yeah, deleting the cache is the way to go. Yes, you’re going to lose all custom scores except for the more modern customs that use the numeric ID system in Magma: C3. When created using that system, the song score is saved to your save game file. Old customs that used alphanumeric IDs have their scores stored on the cache file and you will lose them when you delete it.
September 16, 2015 at 9:06 am #455112Change ID for the song, compile with a new name and you’re fine. DO let us know about the source thing, having a custom source with a proper TU would be pretty nifty. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif”>
September 16, 2015 at 10:27 am #455114I’m alright with losing scores for my customs as long as I don’t lose scores for my official songs (my custom scores are all from years back anyway). Those are safe, right?
It’s probably important to note I’m not running TU5 (I never play online, so I just stick with TU4). For the custom source, I opened the CON in the C3 Con Tools DTA editor and just changed
(‘game_origin’ ‘ugc_plus’)
to
(‘game_origin’ ‘Guitar Hero DLC’)
Works fine. Is there some reason why it shouldn’t? I refuse to believe I’m the first person to try this lol
Edit: Upon closer examination not all the songs actually sorted properly. Turn the Page is the only one of yours that didn’t. Will examine more closely when I can
September 16, 2015 at 10:54 am #455116That’s actually a different thing in game, that’s filtering, which is fine of course but does grouping work? I’d bet no, which is why nobody bothered to check any further.
September 16, 2015 at 11:12 am #455117Not sure what you mean by grouping, that sorts properly though. Apologies if you thought I was talking about something else
I was able to check turn the page though; it’s not that the source wasn’t changed, it just doesn’t show up in the game at all (nor do a few others). Any ideas why that might be?

Apologies if you thought I was talking about something elseGo to Sorted By, choose Source (I think it is, or whatever), go back to the list of songs and see if customs group widh titles like the ones you set or not. If they do, I’m surprised and very impressed. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif”>
September 16, 2015 at 11:40 am #455120This was possible with TU3 and was stopped by TU4. So, are you sure you’ve got TU4? There were files out there claiming to be TU4 and were really TU3. Back up the one you have, then get the tu4 included with c3 con tools. See if custom sorting still works.
September 16, 2015 at 11:50 am #455121Hmm. I’ve already left for the day, but I’ll give that a try after I get back to the house. I don’t really see why it wouldn’t work, but hell, what do I know lol. Either way this method works for my personal needs
I thought I was on tu4, anyway. I’ll give it a look when I get home but if I’m not on 4 right now I can’t say I see any reason to switch to it lol
Any idea on why some songs didn’t show up? Will try deleting & re adding when I can
September 17, 2015 at 10:09 am #455184Yeah sorting by source (date acquired, actually) didn’t work so I probably have TU3. If I’m remembering right,TU4 is the one that broke Caprici di Diablo, right? I think I’ll just stick with 3 tbh. Big fan of the custom sources. Characters not animating properly bothers me a bit but it’s worth the tradeoff for now imo
Anyway, I got the other songs to show up by packaging them together. So thanks for the replies dogs
