Looking at some of the C3 releases, they have full multitrack customs, with filesizes around 18-20 MB.

However, when I try to make customs with full multitracks, the file sizes end up being larger (27 M:cool:

This is with 44100 Hz and 16 bit depth for every track, and mono tracks for the drums kick and snares, and the audio quality in Magma set to 1. Is there anything else I can do to make the filesize smaller?

All the tracks I render from Magma end up being around 58 MB, with the mono tracks being around 29 MB, and the dry vocals 10 MB. The files are most likely larger than normal because the song is over five minutes long, but I would still like to be able to reduce the filesize. Any song over around 20 MB causes my Wii to freeze.

First thing to tell you is that you should not, absolutely not, be using Quality 1. Quality 3 is the standard that RBN songs use, C3 default is 5. For Wii 3 is recommended to save file size, but 1 should be giving you horrible quality audio that is not worth it.

What you need to do for Wii is downsize your stems. Only have one stereo stem for drums. For bass, guitar, vocals and keys, see how much difference there is between the left and right channels, most of the times you can get very good results with just using mono versions of them, unless it’s a crazy mix with very distinct left and right channels.

Do not use crowd audio for Wii.

Use stereo backing, only when it’s useful. If all there is is the count-in, I would move the count-in to drums or just get rid of it altogether.

All of these are recommendations for the underpowered Wii, nothing that should be applied for Xbox 360 or PS3 customs.

Okay I’ll give that a shot, thank you.

What multitracks are you downmixing? Mostly everything already has an appropriate Wii version.

These are for custom songs I am making myself.

Oh, well in that case the same advice applies. Bass and vocals can be mono most of the time of you need it. For guitar, keys, backing, you can apply the appropriate panning in the DTA if it is mostly panned to one side most of the time.
